The artist/mixing engineer/bassie J Bonner is a crucial figure in the story of The Expanders’ self-titled album. We first linked in the mid-2000s when he was part of the original Aggrolites band. We started working together on our first official studio recordings, and he created the epic album cover art by hand, with conceptual help from his wife @nickidemus . He also mixed 10 of the 12 songs on the record, bringing the riddims we had laid down at Killion Sound to life with his expert command of classic 70s and early 80s dub mixing. He even mixed full dub versions & disco-mixes of most of the tunes on the record that remain un-heard to this day🤫. Among many projects J is currently the in-house graphics man for the legendary Studio One label from JA, and he and Nicki run the @jandiscrecords label that specialize in creating murderous heavy duty original early-days-style reggae music.
