Shamikh, an IXL Rockstar! 🎤
Shamikh’s parents write, “Shamikh is an 8-year-old, partially verbal autistic child. Despite having learning disabilities in other subjects, Shamikh is incredibly capable in mathematics. From early childhood, we noticed his deep fascination with numbers. All his games, toys, and screen time revolved around digits and math.
By the age of three, he was reciting numbers in geometric sequences up to the billions—while most children his age are still learning to count into the thousands. Over the past year, we have witnessed his unbelievable growth and development. Through conversations with educators and specialists, we learned that children like Shamikh often explore advanced mathematical concepts around the age of 15, making his progress remarkably early.
After joining a community classroom, Shamikh is now attending Grade 8 math classes at his school, where his teachers affectionately call him a ‘math nerd.’
This year, he has begun showing interest in science and language through IXL. Since language is an area of difficulty for him, the thoughtfully structured questions in IXL English Language Arts have been especially helpful in developing his reading comprehension and overall understanding.”
