Fresh off the release of Colourful Choices released the esteemed Butter Sessions label back in October, London-based Irish/Australian artist Iti returns with his latest EP, a collaborative body of work alongside good friend and fellow producer Axon Growth Factor. A labour of love that began in Brisbane in 2022, the Sleep Pressure EP emerged from a series of late-night jam sessions. Now based in London and Naarm/Melbourne respectively, Iti and Axon Growth Factor have reconnected to finish what they started - this time from opposite sides of the globe. Catch Iti alongside Jhassic on Friday 19 December at Club 77 from 10pm til 5am. Free entry before midnight via guest list, $15 after.

For @iti______ , a Meanjin/Brisbane originating artist turned London local, an international move hasn’t meant he’s left his home behind, but has allowed him the space to explore it even more deeply. His upcoming EP, ‘Colourful Choices’, is set to be released on Naarm/Melbourne’s beloved @butter_sessions this Friday. His mother’s Irish fiddle playing has greatly informed many of the synths on the release, while the rhythmic traditions of his Pakistani heritage underpin his approach to drums. His upbringing in Meanjin takes shape in his love for physical synthesisers. In many ways, ‘Colourful Choices’ is an homage to every part of his home that Iti feels within himself. @iti______ - Colourful Choices is out now 💫 On Butter Sessions, Iti presents Colourful Choices, a collision of vivid synth melodies and fractured drum rhythms. The title nods to the multicoloured lights and patch cables of his synths - the primary source of the record’s motifs. The EP opens with Ampersand, where fragmented lead-lines meet a driving four-to-the-floor rhythm, crafting a shadowy club sound that emerges into moments of euphoria. Next is the title track, Colourful Choices, beginning with a shimmering string-synth that bends and twists into a playful, colourful melody. It’s joined by a punchy drum-machine rhythm before descending into a gritty, driving bassline. Exit shifts the energy with garage-electro edge, its weighty low-end anchoring robotic synth stabs before erupting into a heavy 2-step breakdown. The EP’s closer, Lost in a Tangent, moves into more intricate terrain, pairing rolling skin-drum percussion with snappy breakbeats and a saturated chord melody. In an era of highly-polished production, Colourful Choices sees Iti emerge as a producer unafraid to harness raw sound, delivering music that is tactile, striking, and entirely his own.
