Februāra mēnesī esam priecīgi rezidencē no jauna uzņemt grafisko dizaineri Paulu Buškevicu, kura, paralēli dažādām sadarbībām mākslas vidē, aizraujas ar rakstīšanu, ekskursiju veidošanu, materiālu izziņu, notikumu dokumentēšanu un publicēšanu. Rezidences ietvaros Paula strādās pie antoloģijas, kurā aplūkos Latvijas mikroizdevējus un neatkarīgās poligrāfijas prakses no 20. gadsimta sākuma līdz mūsdienām. Papildus Paula darbosies pie topošās grāmatas "Zila, zila debess", kas ir veltīta tēlnieces, Kuldīgas goda pilsones Līvijas Rezevskas simtgades svinībām. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ In February we are pleased to welcome back in a residency graphic designer Paula Buškevica. She works across visual identities, publications, web and exhibition design, collaborating with artists, curators, cultural institutions and independent initiatives. Her independent work extends into cross-technique processes and material meandering, as well as practices of writing, tour-making, recording, and publishing. During her stay at Studija, she will be working on the anthology of micro-publishers and printing practices in Latvia from the early 20th century til now. Additionally she will continue work on the design of an upcoming book Blue, Blue Sky, dedicated to Kuldīga's honorary sculptor Līvija Rezevska, who would have turned 100 years old in 2026.   Photos / Attēli: Pašportrets / Self-portrait; 19th Tallinn Print Triennial publication with Louise Borinski, 2025; Just Before Something Happens, publication & essay excerpt, 2022; LungA banner with Greta Þorkelsdóttir, 2024; Vieni Fortuna publication, 2024 Lecture poster, 2021. All photos: personal archive. Visi attēli: personīgais arhīvs.

Visual identity for the 19th Tallinn Print Triennial at the Tallinn Art Hall Lasnamäe pavilion that took place a few months ago. Together with the team of the triennial we reflected on forms of recording and preserving, ‘the life of a graphic figure' – as was put by the curator Marika Agu – and the overwhelm of data accumulation. From these conversations came the idea of an illegible exhibition title as a form of resistance. We developed a custom asemic font through many many attempts to create notations that lack any linguistic meaning. These writings can technically be typed out, yet they remain semiotically free to behave as they wish. The various tonalities of colour across the materials echo the idea of a test strip — a record of time in the process of printmaking. Custom-made bags were dip-dyed in apple-tree bark and sewn by Kassandra and Merje Laur. The exhibition wall text was hand-painted by Solveig Lill. The space was designed by Maria Erikson. Typefaces used throughout 🌟 Custom Metafont by Simon Knebl @simonknebl Four Grotesk by HAL @elias_hanzer @lucasliccini Thanks to the triennial team for the trust! 💌 @tallinn_print_triennial +++ With the best @louiseborinski

The tour we guided in and around the Vilnius Railway Station on 26 October has been encapsulated in a short reader, inviting you to enter to exit and get lost in transportation. To travel through rendered stories of the Vilnius Railway Station to be, to consider a windowless elevator, politics of speed and think a bit about noise, digestion and finally why the little figures count. If you wish to travel, dm us for a reader! The reader is self-published, 28 pages long, stapled golden, in the size of a postcard. The tour took place in the context of the Baltic Lines exhibition I hope this email finds you well. 💌 This work was supported by Culture Moves Europe.

what can i say it's the nicest in the world to gather around a banana peel and form a circle of gratitude to watch the type you made from clementine peel be painted on a big square and put on a building to make a poster pose on a rock and let it slide to make something warm for the Icelandic summer like a tunnel in the form of a buff to form eye contact with a horse running by and more thank you for it all @lunga.festival & the team <3
