Earth observation capabilities in the Emirate of Sharjah, UAE, are set to advance with the Sharjah-Sat 2 mission. The 6UXL Sharjah-Sat-2 satellite is built by ISISPACE Group, in collaboration with the Sharjah Academy for Astronomy, Space Sciences and Technology (SAASST), part of the University of Sharjah. This mission marks another milestone in the Emirate’s growing space programme and its commitment to advancing space research and technology. The satellite integrates several key avionics systems from our portfolio, including S-band TT&C, X-band high-rate data downlink, and a highly accurate AOCS, designed to support demanding Earth observation operations, for the benefit of three Sharjah Governmental Departments: The Sharjah Electricity, Water, and Gas Authority (SEWA), Sharjah Municipality Services, and the Department of Town Planning and Survey in Sharjah. At the heart of the mission is a hyperspectral imaging payload capable of capturing Earth observation data at approximately 5 meters ground sampling distance (GSD), powered by our partner Simera Sense. Offering 400 individually selectable spectral bands in the visible and near-infrared wavelengths, it will enable detailed analysis of environmental conditions, land use, and natural resources, unlocking insights that go far beyond conventional imaging. A key objective of the programme is to build local expertise. Scientists, Researchers, and Engineers from SAASST have been closely involved in system design, assembly, integration, and testing (AIT), gaining hands-on experience throughout the mission lifecycle. Following launch, the satellite platform and payload will be operated by the SAASST team, marking an important step in strengthening local satellite capabilities in Sharjah, UAE. “Today we launch a 6U CubeSat, strengthening awareness and response capabilities, advancing scientific research, and engaging local entities through shared data and collaboration.” added by Prof. Hamid M. K. Al Naimiy, Director General of SAASST. Following the launch of Sharjah-Sat-2, SAASST's ongoing initiatives will be pursued through the Sharjah Space and Astronomy Hub (SSAH), reflecting its continued evolution.

Global secure communications could soon take a major step forward. The 12U Satellite Platform for Optical Quantum Communications (SPOQC) mission will soon be launched as part of the ISILAUNCH56 launch campaign. This ground-breaking mission has been supported by ISISPACE Group, who supplied the satellite systems and services. SPOQC aims to demonstrate how satellite-based Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) can enable secure communications beyond the distance limitations of terrestrial fibre networks, extending ultra-secure encryption capabilities on a global scale. Operating quantum payloads in orbit presents significant technical challenges. Maintaining fragile quantum links between satellite and ground stations requires extremely precise pointing, tracking, and optical alignment; challenges which will be addressed by the ISISPACE team and our customer, the Integrated Quantum Networks (IQN) Hub, a UK research consortium funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council. Professor Gerald Buller, Director, Integrated Quantum Networks Hub, said: “The Integrated Quantum Networks (IQN) Hub values its strong partnership with ISISPACE whose technical support has been central to developing the SPOQC satellite. This successful collaboration has enabled us to address the substantial technical challenges involved in bringing a mission of this scale and ambition to its current state of readiness.” SPOQC builds on the experience gained with the SPEQTRE mission, a QKD demonstrator led by the UK Science and Technology Facilities Council’s RAL Space and SpeQtral (Singapore). We look forward to seeing SPOQC begin its journey to orbit.

ISISPACE is proud to announce that the SpeQtre satellite, launched last November during the ISILAUNCH52 campaign, has successfully completed its In-Orbit Commissioning Review (IOCR) and has now been handed over for payload operations. Our team continues to support our customer @ral.space as the mission progresses, building valuable expertise that will impact future quantum communication missions, including the SPOQC satellite, soon to be launched. Andy Vick, Disruptive Technology Lead at RAL Space and UK Principal Investigator for SpeQtre, said: “We’re grateful to ISISPACE for their support throughout SpeQtre’s launch and commissioning. This milestone marks the beginning of an important new phase as we move into payload operations and work to demonstrate the mission’s exciting quantum communications capabilities.”

Twenty years ago today, five young satellite engineers from Delft took a small step. Jeroen Rotteveel, Abe Bonnema, Wouter Jan Ubbels, Eddie van Breukelen, and Erik van der Linden launched @isispace.nl as a spin-out from the Delfi-C3 nanosatellite project of @tudelft . Within two decades, ISISPACE has grown into a leading small satellite provider delivering operational capabilities for both civil and military domains for a global customer base. The ISISPACE team, partners, suppliers, and customers continue to work together with the same passion and enthusiasm as in the early days of the company. Together, we will continue to pursue opportunities to use our satellite capabilities and experience to make the world a better and safer place. Who knows what we will achieve in the next 20 years?

While 2025 closes out, the @isispace.nl team would like to take this opportunity to thank our partners and customers for a year full of achievements and remarkable moments. To name a few: 🤝 We signed a contract with the @eudefenceagency for the LEO2VLEO project to develop and deploy a constellation of satellites with the strategic capability to manoeuvre between Low Earth Orbit (LEO) and Very Low Earth Orbit (VLEO). ▶️ The TANGO (Twin Anthropogenic Greenhouse gas Observers) satellite system started its construction under a contract with the European Space Agency. With this mission, we will measure the global greenhouse gas emissions of CO₂ and methane at the source level. TANGO builds on the success of the Dutch TROPOMI satellite instrument. 🛰️ SpeQtre, a quantum key distribution mission built and designed by ISISPACE aiming to demonstrate ultra-secure exchange of quantum information from space, was successfully launched on board the SpaceX Transporter 15 mission. As part of this same launch, we hit the milestone of more than 800 satellites successfully launched through our rideshare launch services, further extending our heritage as the most experienced small satellite launch aggregator in the market. 🙌 All these milestones and achievements were made possible by our highly experienced and tireless team at ISISPACE, going above and beyond to surpass all the challenges! A big thank you to our employees for that! 🎉 For now, enjoy the holidays, and here's to another year full of achievements to you all! Happy 2026! 🎉

It was an honour to welcome @nato Deputy Secretary General Radmila Shekerinska and her delegation to our facilities during her trip to the Netherlands. We had the opportunity to discuss important topics, including the relevance of space for Defence and how SMEs like @isispace.nl can be of value. During the visit, constructive dialogue between the Deputy Secretary General, representatives of the @minvandefensie , and ISISPACE executives addressed both bottlenecks for SME space companies entering the allied defence markets and specific opportunities and capabilities that ISISPACE has in the field of military space. As a satellite system provider serving customers since 2006, ISISPACE is pleased to have presented our heritage, vision and capabilities in the field of small satellites to the NATO delegation. We thank the NATO Deputy Secretary General for their interest in ISISPACE contributing innovative small satellite concepts to secure our future on Earth, a principle that we have in common with NATO.
