We were pleased to welcome a group of students from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University to D-Orbit as part of their study tour focused on supply chain management and analytics in international industrial environments.
Guided by Dr. Anthony Pang from the Department of Logistics and Maritime Studies, the students visited our facilities to learn more about how logistics concepts extend beyond Earth, from orbital transportation and mission management to satellite deployment and the future of space infrastructure.
During the visit, the group had the opportunity to explore our clean rooms and gain insights into the assembly and operations behind technologies such as ION Satellite Carrier.
Thank you for visiting us!
On May 21st, 2026, Stefano Antonetti, our VP Strategy and Growth, will join the panel session "Reinventing the Space Industry | Building the Infrastructures, Transportation and Markets of the New Space Era" at the Technology Forum, organized by Teha Group - The European House-Ambrosetti in Stresa, Italy.
Following a keynote by ESA Astronaut Samantha Cristoforetti, Stefano will take the stage alongside Mishaal Ashemimry (Centre for Space Futures, Saudi Arabia), Carissa Christensen (CEO, BryceTech), Giorgio Saccoccia (President Europe, Vast), and Giorgio Tumino (Space Transportation CTA, ESA) to discuss the infrastructure, governance, and business models shaping the future of the space economy.
The discussion will address key topics: from the transition to commercial space stations and the rise of a "space supply chain", to Europe's strategic positioning, the adequacy of existing space law, and the role of private capital.
Stefano will bring D-Orbit's perspective on the fast evolving market of in-orbit servicing in which D-Orbit is already active with the ESA-funded projects RISE and Morph, and the IOS Demo Mission, a project funded through the Italian government’s National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR) under the leadership of Agenzia Spaziale Italiana

We are pleased to welcome Emanuele Santo to D-Orbit as Chief Operating Officer.
Emanuele brings over 20 years of global operating leadership across equipment, services, and engineering companies in oil & gas and energy, sectors where complexity, technology, and high-stakes execution are the daily reality.
He began his career at Schlumberger as a field engineer in remote, high-intensity operations, before progressing into functional and GM roles at GE Oil & Gas (later Baker Hughes), Samsung, and Snam. Throughout, he has built a reputation for bringing rigor and clarity to organizations navigating rapid growth and operational change.
In his new role, Emanuele will oversee operational execution across D-Orbit's Orbital Access, In-Orbit Servicing, and Government & Defence Business Units, strengthening the foundations as we scale.
This appointment reflects D-Orbit's ambition for growth and expansion: one that pairs technological excellence with the operational discipline that industrial scale demands.

Today, we highlight the German Aerospace Center (DLR) and its Camera SpaceMast payload, flying on board ION SCV Astounding Alexandra.
Camera SpaceMast is an ultralight deployable system designed to extend a camera up to 3.5 meters away from the spacecraft, offering a unique external perspective of in-orbit operations.
By deploying and retracting a rollable carbon composite mast, the mission aims to validate the system’s reliability in orbit while capturing images and video of the spacecraft and payload deployments.
Operating like a “space selfie stick,” the extended camera will provide wide-angle views of the satellite in action, with Earth in the background, contributing both to technology validation and to new ways of observing space missions.
The development of this technology is led by the team of DLR - Institut für Systemleichtbau, Martin E. Zander, Marco Straubel, and Martin Hillebrandt, at the German Aerospace Center (DLR), and it is supported by a DLR technology transfer program (DLR Innovation & Transfer) together with an Exist - from science to business project funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWE).
We are glad to have you on board! 🚀
