I knew I wanted to do something different this time round, I wanted to capture those moments of pure elation & euphoria we’ve shared on stage as well as those moments of raw & intimate fragility we’ve experienced off it...
Rituals was written as an album, a long player, and I hope, at least once, you’ll listen to it that way…

Ishmael Ensemble returns to Stroud on Friday 8th May 2026 for a special in the round performance at The Goods Shed, joined by The Rituals Orchestra and a host of guest vocalists.
Following the acclaimed release of their 2024 album Rituals and an extensive tour across the UK, Europe & Australia, bandleader Pete Cunningham expands on the ideas first explored in the recording studio. For the album sessions, Cunningham assembled a unique combination of harp, string & horn players to create lush, cinematic textures; now brought to life on stage alongside guest vocalists, the forming of The Rituals Orchestra has offered an opportunity to re-interpret music from the entire Ishmael Ensemble back catalogue in a new and exciting way.
