When Natalia invited me to write a text for her publication I felt unsure. I thought about how I'd be publishing this text. I'd tried to conceal my name from the label. blush is a reflection of my inner world, and being written into it felt exposing. As someone who's not really a writer, publishing anything alongside her felt exposing in a different way. Natalia's prose flows and curves with the most weightless elasticity. I'm grateful to Natalia for reminding me that blush is in the translation of an idea, a possibility, and the freedom of that possibility. That words, as sounds, reveal themselves, illuminating an unintended intimacy. It's freeing to write honestly. And in an era where sharing a selfie is a prerequisite for promoting your gig, I may as well just be real. And so, 𝘈 𝘲𝘶𝘪𝘦𝘵 𝘩𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘰𝘳𝘺, tracing movements on soundcloud, entanglements that crossed into life. Thank you Angelina for the wisdom, you're not a writer until you write, and for the bridges. Thank you Lunchtime, Musho for designing and Caitlin for editing, the best collaborators and the most gorgeous press. Thank you Natalia, for this work that still leaves me so wonderfully tangled. so happy to share a new collaborative mix with natalia for the beloved @candleobject series, collaged, reassembled and pieced back together over the last months during a trip last year, we bonded over our shared love for a particular mode of lo-fi indie folk, the type of thing made in a bedroom and casually recorded in a live take, that somehow captures a floaty feeling, drifting beyond the bounds of the recorded material  the mix is a record of that search - strange, elusive but heartwarming songwriting. there's a particular fragility to it all, like the last note from a wind-up music box - something to wrap yourself up inside for the icy cold of winter's end thank you to the sweetest @dj__candle for the invitation, @psalmsofalogia for the incredible demo included here and @davidneinroeder for the gorgeous painting that so perfectly captures the spirit of this music x

A little tribute to my dear friend and collaborator, Lizzie On Thursday we share a very special project that we’ve been building over the last two years. The work is rooted in ritual, voice, and myth. While it draws on Scottish folklore, at its core it’s about myth-building through a predominantly FLINTA perspective - as is always the case with SP. What may not be immediately obvious is Lizzie’s presence - held in the three figures that appear in the artwork. During the loss of her beloved mother, Lorna, at the end of last year, Lizzie found moments of refuge in making images. Many of these photographs were taken quietly - in the hospital, her room, or the garden of the family home - during a period of caregiving. With little access to materials, she placed herself in the frame. I'm immensely proud of Lizzie, her strength is beyond inspiring. Lorna was always her biggest supporter, and it feels clear that her courage and generosity of spirit live on through Lizzie. The figure in these photographs carries a quiet, luminous power. Natalia will perform a new hybrid solo work titled 'the loss of small detail' 𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘂𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘀𝘁 is the solo project of musician and performance artist Lois Daniels — the mind behind ‘The Enga Project’ and one half of the newly formed freak-folk duo ‘vaseline’. combining ambient textures, avant-garde experimentation, and wordless vocal fragments, her work draws the listener into a world that is at once deeply intimate and subtly uncanny. 𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗮 𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗜𝗜𝗜 & 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝘁 𝗿𝗼𝗯𝗶𝗻 are a recently formed Glasgow-based duo, who navigate a tangled weave of harp, percussion, electronics and voice. their work explores delicate threads and sudden ruptures, where chaos coils around fragility, and entanglement becomes both method and outcome. Summertime mix for @foilmusic 🌻🌞 Recorded in may during endless glasgow sunshine, tracing languid murmurs of slow days in the sun. Songs for guitar breaking through sounds of buzzing insects in grassy meadows and steady warm tape fuzz. Hazy slowcore and ambi folk moving to heady and almost overripe sweetness of 00’s indietronica. There’s a soft joy to all of this music, contentment and letting go in a moment of bliss. Delighted to contribute to Kirill’s beautiful @dekatmemwa series, exploring the vision for @blush_tbc It’s a mix centered around ambient guitar, ephemeral moments when a zoom recorder is left on and spontaneous playing merges with the environment. But it also wanders to somewhere more abstracted, guitars playfully distorted with the romantic atmospheres and dated textures of 90s trip-hop and sample-based music. First mix I’ve recorded since January 🫠 this sound has been floating around in my head for ages and it took a while to translate it, relieved and content that it now exists. Many classic faves from low, hood, crescent, empress etc along with new and forthcoming by @_sunfear @psalmsofalogia and ana reme <3
