Nosedrip x Susannah Stark & Band x Somewhere Press Friday 3rd April 2100-0300 EXIT Nosedrip Susannah Stark & Band (Live) Somewhere Press EXIT presents a night featuring two of Glasgow’s most exciting projects, Somewhere Press and Susannah Stark, joined by none other than Belgium’s Nosedrip, forming a Glasgow – Somewhere Press – Stroom thread. Exploring expanded club sonics, dancefloor oddities, and an extended DJ set from Nosedrip, pulling selections that lean toward EXIT goth-club atmospheres and no doubt a train of jacking Belgian new beat and much more into the early hours. Tickets via RA Susannah Stark & Band (Live) @earlywater88 Susannah Stark and Band are an experimental ensemble from Glasgow, playing an extended folk session in mystical locations around the Govan stones, river Clyde & underground waters. Their sound is formed out of sparse sonic gestures and vibrating intensities, weaving among multi-lingual songwriting in both Scottish Gaelic and English, drawing from pop, jazz, experimental, folk & kraut rock influences to create a tactile expression of place, faith and being that can also be experienced as a ritualistic channelling of unseen and unheard forces in everyday life. Nosedrip @nosedrip Nosedrip ingeniously folds the essence of his cult label Stroom into all of this into his sets, pulling people into energizing genre-unifying flashes that most DJs wouldn’t dare touch. But there’s also another side – the Nosedrip that dives headfirst into techno, house, breaks, and the endless zones in between. He can be your go-to wave pop selector, while at the same time jacking new beat the Belgian way. Somewhere Press @somewhere.press Somewhere Press is a Glasgow record label run by Lizzie Urquhart and Tim Dalzell. Their catalogue centres leftfield electronics, dream pop and dark ambient, held in the echo and residue of voice, field recording and drone. There’s pop, folk and even jazz in there somewhere, but all those elements are filtered through the label’s wide spread of influences. Their DJ sets take on a hypnotic sound, intertiwining the dark, emotional and psychedelic into a meandering narrative. @countdowngrabowsee was transformative this year. The week of living, making, and playing together is the most gorgeous alignment of values I’ve possibly ever experienced. Thank you so much to the organizers for making it possible, and to every person who brought it to life! In our little attic studio with the balcony, I created a trio of hoodies for ‘embodied spellcasting.’ My guiding question: does wrapping a spell around your body, encasing your rib cage, organs, brain in it increase your power to bring the words to action? Can a cocoon of words enable you to metamorph, to manifest the intention? The three spells are: 1) Pause Time 2) Object Permanence 3) Generate Courage 1 and 3 were co-written with my love, the brilliant, beautiful naiad @siouxzisioux 💘 The spell hoodies, wearing sticks from the surrounding forest, hung in the gallery show alongside the works of the incredible other artists in residence. It is such an honor to be a part of this creative community. And the studio time provided an intensely life-affirming merger of my three artistic practices: painting, writing, and garmentry. Topping off the weekend, I had the pleasure of DJing at 5am on Sunday morning. Thank you from every corner of my heart to everyone who left their sweat on the dance floor! The first photos are of ‘embodied spellcasting,’ swipe to see some of the Grabowsee magic! Whatalife.
