My first ever open studio @csm_news for my course @artsciencecsm Really loved working with everyone and interacting with everyone. Thank you so much for all those who saw my work. My work often begins with ordinary objects that people overlook. These wooden needles came from that habit of picking up something simple and asking what else it can become. A needle usually hides behind the fabric it connects, but by enlarging it and carving each one differently, I wanted to bring the object itself into focus. Working with them made me rethink how tools carry quiet histories and assumptions. Needlework is often seen as soft and domestic, yet making these forms was physical, heavy, and tough. That contrast opened up space for the needle to be read differently—less as a helper, more as a character of its own. These pieces are my way of giving a familiar object another life, another purpose, and another meaning. #needles #art #repurpose #wood #woodworking
