I had a very emotional moment performing "Made It" on Saturday. I'm kinda having it again as I'm trying to codify the experience in these words.
It was something about being onstage at the Kimmel Center, performing a tribute song about my mom with her and my daughters in the audience. Maybe it was the joy on my mom's face watching her son do his art rap such a grand stage. Or maybe the faces of Zora and Glory for seeing their dad rap live for the first time. Or maybe it was coming to Philly and staying in a ridiculously nice home with my family down the block from where I went to elementary school. Maybe it was having so many of my extended family and friends from the block in the building. Maybe it was getting to share the stage with people that I love and have been influenced by.
Really all of that together became overwhelming and when my eyes caught the spotlight when I peered into the crowd I just felt like...I made it.
And I delivered that second verse through tears of joy.
This Saturday I took the stage opening for @theephantom5000 & The Illharmonic Orchestra joined by @lookatlen@iammany100 aka David Manuel), and @shenanigansmagillicutty . It was a movie. Thank you to @theephantom5000 and @thephoenix5000 for having me. Thank you to my band and to the musicians that performed with me. Thank you everyone who came and I hope I made y'all proud.

I was backstage being interviewed by the shooting star @raynereports when @methodmanofficial 's played, so I didn't realize he saw it.
@pabs__art just sent me the video in the second slide and it feels dope that I was able to give someone who has had such an impact on me their flowers and that it resonated with him.
