Touchdown in Tokyo so you know I immediately went hunting for my first bowl of ramen. 🍜🇯🇵 As a self-proclaimed tonkotsu fanatic, I’m always down for a rich, creamy pork broth moment. While staying in Ginza, I made the grueling trek (all of 5 minutes 😂) to the famous 📍Ippudo Ginza. The spot was bustling with tourists and locals alike, but I lucked out with a cozy little window seat. Ordered everything from the iPad screen and within minutes there was beer, gyoza, and a steaming bowl of ramen sitting in front of me. Gyoza 🥟 : unlike anything I’ve had back in the States. These were airy, delicate little bites of goodness — simple, perfectly crisped, and packed with flavor. Honestly addicting, and now I fully understand why they give you a generous portion. 🤤 Tonkotsu Ramen 🍜 : rich and creamy pork broth with homemade thin straight noodles, topped with pork belly and loin chashu, mushrooms, green onions, chili paste, and of course a perfectly gooey egg. 🥚 You could taste the depth in that broth and immediately understand why tonkotsu takes hours to prepare. It was beyond flavorful and ridiculously comforting after a long travel day. The pork belly absolutely melted in my mouth, while the lean chashu was some of the best I’ve had in a long time. And their eggs…they never miss. The staff were incredibly welcoming, and I loved the authentic energy of the restaurant with the team shouting greetings every time someone walked through the door. Part 2 of only featuring Asian spots in honor of AAPI Heritage Month! 🍜 Izakaya vibes, craft drinks, and a 5-miso blend charred at 572 degrees. @gogyogr is the buzzy new spot from the @ippudo team, and it certainly delivered. The 572°F charred miso broth is unlike any ramen I’ve had recently. Definitely order it and add the vinegar half way through for a lighter flavor to cut the richness. This is a fun date night spot or place to come with a group of friends and order a variety to share!
