Happy New Year Happy New Gear 📸 Fresh from my new lightbox! Hope your 2026 is a fresh start too ✨ About this piece: 'Scent and texture memories are precious, ephemeral: hence the choice of porcelain as clay body. Carving into the leather-hard porcelain, I treat the material like stone, removing layers to reveal an essence. Avoiding any addition of colour, the relief focuses purely on the unique fig textures remembered: the waxy leaves, glistening fruit, smooth scent. By developing my own glazes (semi-matte and glossy), as well as a scented oil, these slow processes become active acts of recreation and remembering.' #ceramics #porcelain #keramikk #kunst #art

💙Iliana Papadimitriou💙 is one of three student editors of The Vessel 9 ‘Make Me See’. Iliana Papadimitriou is an artist with an MA in ceramics from Oslo National Academy of the Arts @khio . In her artistic practice she creates sculptures that initiate multi-sensory experiences, combining different materials and scents with ceramics. She uses her academic background in philosophy to question the status of different objects, and how we engage with them. Iliana Papadimitriou’s text ‘Carving Carrot Birds’ is available to read online at 🔗 vessel-magazine.no 🔗 Photos 1-2 by Embla Moe, photo 3 by Iliana Papadimitriou, photo 4: by Tor S Ulstein photo 5: rendering by Mads Øien of a public space sculpture by Iliana Papadimitriou to be completed in 2026,

Gledelig nyhet! 2026. Foto: Embla Moe Rendering: Mads Øiern 💬 Iliana Papadimitriou has been selected as the winner of the competition for the art project at Furuset Torg. Her project Reflections is a sculptural installation that serves as a wondeful gathering point in the square – inspired by the forms and qualities of ceramics, the work invites play, movement, and sensory exploration. The abstract form makes the sculpture accessible to all, creating an inclusive, intergenerational meeting place in the public space. Papadimitriou is a Greek-English artist based in Oslo, with a background in both art and philosophy. She works interdisciplinarily with ceramics, stone, plaster, and digital media, exploring the relationship between materiality, perception, and technology. She holds a master’s degree in philosophy, two bachelor’s degrees, and is currently studying ceramics at the Oslo National Academy of the Arts. The rendered sketch above is from a draft that is being refined. @ipapadim__

What kinds of forms, textures and sensorial experiences incite curiosity? Iliana Papadimitriou explores the ceramic medium’s potential across sensory, tactile and material states. By incorporating scent materials such as perfume, wax, and aromachemicals, she investigates how ceramics can evoke olfactive tactility. Her British-Greek heritage and background in academic philosophy inform her cultural and personal perspectives around materiality and object. Her practice questions and incites curiosity around the types of objects, textures and sensorial experiences we value. Liminal Carriers explores the unique properties of liminality in ceramics, scent, and the airspace. Using reliefs, reverse ergonomics and texture, the installation focuses on deepening the embodied, material experience of transitional space. #ceramicartist #ceramics #sculpture #graduationshow #bli_noe_annet #6_juni #oslonationalacademyofthearts #khio #kunsthøgskolenioslo #art_and_craft #medium_material_based_art #masterinfinearts @ipapadim__ @khioceramics_students @khio_artandcraft @khio 📸@hungry_ghosting

GLYCYRRHIZIN 2025 One of my stoneware sculptures from 'In the corner of my eye' exhibition @ramgalleri with my amazing class @khioceramics_students : @jasminfranko @jenny.hamrell @sara.zamecznik @quinscholten 💐 'Glycyrrhizin' takes its name from the liquorice root (Glycyrrhiza glabra) active. Although liquorice is viewed as a flavour staple in Norway, excess consumption can be fatal. I have created a ceramic glaze that mirrors the viscosity, colour and texture of liquorice. The more you circle the sculpture, the more it transforms. It is both pleasing and unsettling, like glycyrrhizin itself (smak og behag!) 🖤 Took my own photos 📸

Assigning flavour materials to @math1ldamath1lda 's poetry, we created word packages specially made to melt in the mouth. We prepared and served these at the live event, while some illustrative pieces stayed in the vitrine. @khiobiblioteket @khioceramics_students 📷 Me

⚪ SPF 1240° ⚪ This piece follows ilmenite's material metamorphosis from dark, earthly ore to bright, pristine pigment seen in sunscreen and ceramic glaze. Here ceramic containers are sprayed with local ilmenite rock, among metal structures and sand collected from the Sandbekk mine. Both the glazes and the container contents focus on ilmenite's final form: titanium dioxide. This is also one of the active ingredients in sunscreen. I made the suncream and glazes in the same lab, sharing many of the same ingredients. Tusen takk til fantastiske @velferden @tio2_project @khioceramics 🙏🩷 Photo: H. E. Hammonds. At the Olfactive Site, solid scent balms are activated from their glazed stoneware station, using ergonomic ceramic applicators in contact with the skin. In this interaction between memory and material, who - or what - is the carrier? What is being activated/ transferred? Photo from the MA1 @khio @khio_artandcraft @khioceramics exhibition 'Offerings to a Stranger' May 2024. More on this project soon! Tusen takk ✋💞@veronicaslund 📷🤍 Tor S. Ulstein
