📾 @hungry_ghosting 📾 Jonas Carlsen

I don’t have any fingerprints left
For the past three months I’ve been working in the Monumental Studio at the Center for Ceramic Art. Usually I’m the one behind the camera here, documenting the guest artists working in this space in my role as communications and project manager. This time, I got to focus on my own practice. These two sculptures are two out of three creations I’ve made during this time period, the third one will be announced be announced soon! I’m incredibly grateful to @ingunnsalmedal and @torbjornkvasbo for giving me the opportunity to develop my own artistic practice in this wonderful space. Thank you @torbjornkvasbo and @vida.aasen for helping me flip my sculptures mid-process! As a recipient of the Innlandet Municipality Grant for Young Artists 2025, I would also like to thank @innlandetfylke for the support.

I found an old draft from June 2025 đŸ©” This was the making of my graduation exhibition! Part of my master’s project, which I am grateful to have received support from the Norwegian Kulturdirektoratet through the master’s grant En mangfoldig kunst- og kultursektor. The grant recognizes artistic practices that contribute to a more diverse art and culture sector, and was awarded in connection with my work around art and neurodivergence, more specifically dyslexia. A big thank you to Kjell Rylander, Sara Yazdani, Ragnhild AamĂ„s, Irene Nordli, and Signe Holm for your guidance and support throughout this process. Sincere thanks to Helene Skuterud, Ingrid Hopland Gimse, Robert Bergvall, and Knut Natvik for your assistance and technical support during building and installing.

Embodied Resistance was my installation for our graduation show @bli_noe_annet_ , which took place at KHiO from June 6th to June 15th, 2025. The installation consists of several hundred relief-based elements, wall-mounted ceramic reliefs, and my sculpture Brain Person. These are connected through foam mattresses, matching the color on the wall and cut to mirror my Persistent Patterns that make up the shapes of the reliefs. The materials and composition draw on embodied forms of knowledge, reflects around an alternative spatial logic rooted in neurodivergent perception and communicates the complexities of abstract through a Visual Vocabulary. This work is part of my master’s project, which I am grateful to have received support from the Norwegian Kulturdirektoratet through the master’s grant En mangfoldig kunst- og kultursektor. The grant recognizes artistic practices that contribute to a more diverse art and culture sector, and was awarded in connection with my work around art and neurodivergence, more specifically dyslexia. Sincere thanks also to Helene Skuterud, Ingrid Hopland Gimse, Robert Bergvall, and Knut Natvik for your technical support during building and installing. Photos by: Embla Moe @hungry_ghosting

đŸ€ŽJenny HamrellđŸ€Ž is a Swedish ceramicist based in Oslo. She is a recent MA graduate of Oslo National Academy of the Arts, focusing on ceramics. Jenny Hamrell’s text for The Vessel titled ‘The Anagama Dragon and the Phoenix Fast Fire’ details the building and firing of a new Phoenix fast fire kiln at the Center for Ceramic Art in Venabygd, Norway, led by Norwegian ceramicist Ole Morten Rokvam. The objects shown here were fired in TorbjĂžrn Kvasbþ’s anagama kiln. đŸ”„ Jenny Hamrell writes in her text: «Anagama is an ancient wood-firing technique known for creating natural ash deposits and unpredictable flame patterns which interact with the clay surface without using applied glazes.» The text is part of The Vessel 9 ‘Make Me See’ available to read online at đŸ‘ïžvessel-magazine.nođŸ‘ïž The issue is edited by Åsa Dybwad Norman and Ben Lignel, in collaboration with student editors Sofie Alm Nordsveen, Carla Rotenberg, and Iliana Papadimitriou.
