I don’t often say I’m proud of myself, but what we’ve made is a big deal. The last year was absolutely brutal, but we stepped up and made something that will help a lot of people. And as of today, real humans are in it. Sign up to be in the next round of users at PostFire.org.
Shout out to every single person who worked on it - there are so many of you. 💗
Catastrophe doesn’t define us, how we show up to meet it does. This has been one helluva year, but LA is filled with kind, generous people who poured themselves into caring for people like us, and that care has changed our lives. We are grateful and proud to know you and to live here. Thank you, LA. I ride for you forever.
Special shoutout to our first responders for putting your lives on the line, and thank you @24laproject and @laplatica for your work and footage.

Altadena is crushing it! This incredible community already has 41% of its rebuild applications submitted and we’re not even a year out from the fires!
Last month we created issue #1 of the PostFire Post, giving folks printed Rebuild guidance and a little fun, in time for the Altadena Resource Fair put on by @altadenacollective . So many awesome people are contributing amazing things to this recovery process. Community can achieve extraordinary things!

Yall, I did something I’m really proud of.
When the Eaton Fire took our home 11 months ago, I learned two things:
1. Disaster is unavoidable for all of us, it’s just a matter of when, and how equipped we are to handle it.
2. The current recovery system is broken.
Maybe you remember the chaos after the LA fires? Community protected community, neighbors relied on each other for information, and we daisy-chained solutions to look out for the vulnerable. A lot of people got left behind because figuring out how to navigate was confusing and exhausting and inherently racist.
That shouldn’t be what it is, so we quit our lives to build a solution. It’s been ten months of 14hr days, but we’re building the support we wished we had. Meet PostFire, a centralized platform that simplifies recovery and makes rebuilding more affordable.
As PostFire grows we will be there to guide folks through disaster recovery, for free. Because everyone deserves to come home.
We are a self funded nonprofit. This year, considering giving PostFire what you would give to Uncle Sam. It’s a write-off, and it’s well spent.

PATTY. WTF how do people like this even exist? Kind, nurturing, intrepid, doesn’t see obstacles, fiercely protective, ethically hardwired, dogged, funny as fuck, cooks like a god, CEO energy, and committed to partnership and self improvement and her community’s well being - Even when she’s had a YEAR (on top of a LIFE). She blows my mind. Person or project, Patty’ll feed you, moisturize you, and send you on your way better than she found you. She protected the things I couldn’t this year, and had my back in ways it will take me years to verbalize. She’s a gift to me and everyone who knows her. Wish her a happy birthday - she deserves the world, which is a better place because she’s in it. I love you Patrick.
Survivors living in toxicity need air purifiers, so we’re delivering them, for free. But after looting and chaos it’s important for survivors to see a familiar face at their door, so we hired neighbors for the final mile and funneled that money back into our community. Thanks to our partners at @the_changereaction@baby2baby@lugg we could make this happen.
If you or someone you know lives in or up to 6 miles around either LA burn scar, we want to get you a free purifier. Link in my bio.
This year rewired me. I came in curious and a little antsy for change, and I’m leaving with a clarity and singular focus I’ve never had. One of my worst fears came to life and, to my surprise, I found everything I was looking for in the rubble. Everything that doesn’t involve helping people has fallen into soft focus. This year was grinding, but it took my drifting sands and crushed them into glass. Against all odds, I am so grateful for it.
I can’t wait to show you what we’ve been building, and I’m grateful for another statistic beating turn around the sun. I hope you have a beautiful day, and if something painful is happening, remember that clarity can be difficult work. 🫶🏻
