One year ago, in the days following the fires, our hearts were breaking as updates came in minute by minute, each one carrying the weight of an unimaginable loss felt by our friends, our families, and the city we were born and raised in. Los Angeles changed overnight, and so did all of us. Late at night on January 9th, guided purely by instinct, we shared a quickly put together, makeshift, and misspelled flier on Instagram, offering my dad’s bar as a local donation hub. By the next morning, our doors were filled with people just as desperate and eager to help. Cars arrived packed with essential goods. Neighbors showed up ready to do whatever was needed. Since that day, we have worked around the clock in support of our city and its fire affected communities, long before we could imagine how far this journey would go or how many lives we would be honored to meet along the way. Looking back now fills us with a gratitude that is hard to put into words. Over this past year, that same instinct has guided everything we have done. In the middle of heartbreak, people showed up for one another with time, with resources, with patience, and with so much love. What began in deep loss became a powerful reminder of what is possible when we choose connection and stand together. Over the past year, we have supported more than 15,000 fire affected individuals and distributed over four million dollars in brand new, in kind donations. Through our free shop, community events, mental health and financial resources, and partnerships with like minded organizations, we continue meeting the evolving needs of our city. The road to recovery for thousands of Angelenos remains long, and that is exactly why 24LA remains here. We are deeply grateful to every person who has been part of this journey and honored to continue serving alongside you in the year ahead. Our city still needs us, and we will keep showing up, together. May we keep listening to our hearts. May we keep showing up for one another. May we keep caring for our neighbors, now and always. With all our love and deepest gratitude, The 24LA Team 🤍

IT IS HAPPENING! Mark your calendars - Sunday afternoon, May 31 4-6pm, we are UNVEILING THIS THING!!! Thank you to the Delawari Family for truly making this a reality. Thank you to @24laproject for helping me throw this, and all my sponsors who are making it happen: @altadenarotary @thealtadenatowncouncil @altadenachamber @altadenawild @websterspharm @altadenaheritage @altadenahistoricalsocietyca @altaartscollective4 @altadenacolab @altadenarising @larisestogether @409woodbury and everyone else who has helped me. My biggest thank you though goes to the 80+ volunteers who came out to help paint, several of whom made significant contributions to this piece, like @arturinstagram and @simonerein . With a wingspan of over 85 feet long and an average height of 8 feet, this baby is clocking in at the newest, LARGEST mural in Altadena. Come celebrate not only the massive effort it took to create this but this huge moment for our town as we celebrate our recovery. RSVP link in bio, or just show up. Let’s f#%*+ party. #altadena #pasadena #mural #localart

24LA (@24LAProject ) was created from friendship, community, and a commitment to show up when it mattered most 💛 Founded by best friends Kenyan Armitage and Malin Smith just days after the fires, 24LA has already helped support more than 16,000 Angelenos impacted by the wildfires through the distribution of over $6 million in new in-kind donations. As recovery continues, so does the need. Their mission is not only to provide essentials, but to ensure families are able to shop with dignity, care, and support during an incredibly difficult time 🫂 #LARises #Altadena #DenaStrong #CommunityRecovery #WeShowUp

Relief efforts don’t just provide resources, they can also shape how people navigate recovery and stability in the aftermath of crisis. Our latest interview highlights @24laproject , a Los Angeles based non-profit developing systems of support rooted in community care. The organization itself began from a state of urgency, and has since become a lifeline for tens of thousands of individuals affected by the LA wildfires. Their work presents new possibilities of what disaster response can look like when it’s built for accessibility, autonomy, and long-term resilience. Swipe to learn more about their incredible journey and plans for the future.
