Thank you! I haven’t yet had the chance to speak about this immense, rich moment in my life. The road that brought me here has been long, and soon, little by little, I will tell you its story. This process has only just begun, and it carries within it the lives of so many women, so many people who have been part of it until now, and who continue to feed its arms, its head, its hair. I continue this journey with hope in my heart, and with all the love I have. Madama is all women. Madama is a gesture of love. Madama is an old story. Madama is the body contracted in pain. New commission: Madama by Iole La Sala ⁠ ⁠ Congratulations to @iolelasala for her @aceagrams funding to create new work Madama, which we are also excited to be supporting.⁠ ⁠ Madama is an interdisciplinary dance-theatre project exploring how women’s bodies carry and transform trauma shaped by love, violence, and social expectation. Rooted in post-war Italian imagery, it reclaims the ‘spinster’ as a symbol of resilience and creative power. ⁠ Madama explores the many ideas of love we inherit, grow up with, and carry into adult life. Through women’s memories, it builds a physical vocabulary rooted in the feminine body. I’m so grateful to share that I’ve received support from Arts Council England @aceagrams to bring this piece of my heart to life. Deeply grateful to @southeastdance for believing in this work from the very beginning, and for supporting and commissioning this stage of the project. From my research 𝙷𝙴𝙻𝐿𝒪𝒱𝐸 (Helluv) - Thanks to @marcheteatro @inteatro - Here we are now with the R&D of MADAMA. This feels like the first step of a long and beautiful creative journey, one of building, meeting people, listening, and shaping something that goes beyond me, beyond us. I trust this process deeply. A little glimpse into who I am. Yesterday was a full day, full of discovery, smiles, new people, sweat, and breathlessness. A day of movement, trust, and going beyond limits. I truly believe in what I do. I believe in movement as one of the deepest forms of love. Here is a tiny, precious moment of what happened yesterday through my classes. People trusting, letting go, exploring, and stepping outside of what they thought they could do. If I had to describe it in a few words, I would say: doggy moment, weight, head in.
