IE is shifting the narrative of environmentalism by prioritizing justice, amplifying the solutions, and inviting everyone to become a climate activist. We’re excited to continue making an impact by sharing the stories and solutions emerging from the climate justice movement. #BlackAuthorsMatter šŸŒāœŠšŸ¾New Book ReleasešŸ’« The IE Book was written by our founder @greengirlleah with essays and tips from members of the first IE council + activists from around the world. Pre-order linked in bio šŸ§ššŸ½āœØ Black history is environmental history and this book highlights the work of the environmental justice movement and Black feminist theorists who laid the groundwork for intersectional theory. This book is a primer on all things intersectional environmentalism and is a call to action/reminder that we can’t save the planet without uplifting the voices of its people, especially those most often unheard. Why are pre-orders important? With only 8 days left to pre-order, pre-orders make a world of difference in the world of publishing which is a white + male dominated industry. Pre-orders help show the publishing world that they should invest in a project, continue to amplify and invest in Black + BIPOC authors, and also encourages the publisher to put more resources behind the promotion of the book. Black female authors are some of the least represented in the industry and even less so in the world of environmental writing. šŸ“• The Intersectional Environmentalist: How to dismantle systems of oppression to protect people + planet was written by first time author Leah Thomas who started writing the book at 25 years old while also founding the IE platform, which now has over 400,000 community members (each of you!) With this project, she hopes to show other young Black women that their writing projects are possible. ✨ We want the world of publishing to hear the voices of the IE community loud and clear. From Feb 28th to March 8th (launch day), we’ll be sharing 8 days of content about the book to celebrate the accomplishment of our founding story + amplifying Black authors. While Asian American and Pacific Islander communities are impacted by environmental injustice, they’re often underrepresented in environmental media, policy, and the broader climate conversation. But we can change things by empowering aapi activists and organizations to ensure environmentalism is truly intersectional and by doing our part to make sure environmentalism action is inclusive. Check out the @solutions.project to learn more. šŸ–Šļø @greengirlleah

What if the way you live is one of the most powerful environmental decisions you can make? 🌱 We talk a lot about climate and environmental justice here, the systems, the policies, the corporate capture. But the solutions don’t only live in legislation. Sometimes they start with where and how we choose to call home. We’re proud to share this reel created by @ms.bohemiansoul , tiny house expert and advocate, lifestyle architect and community strategist, whose work sits at the exact intersection of housing, climate, and community design. For over a decade, Jewel has been living the alternative and helping Black women and communities redesign how they live by reimagining home, intentional living, and community. This collaboration came together through the vision of @lifteconomy , building businesses and lives that contribute to a regenerative future, not just escape a broken one, and connects to the broader work of intentional community design championed by @fic.intentional.community . Housing. Climate. Economy. Community. These aren’t separate conversations. They never were. Follow @ms.bohemiansoul to keep exploring what the alternative looks like in real life. On this International Workers’ Day, we want to shine a spotlight on the farmworkers, land defenders, and forest guardians who feed the world and protect it at the same time.šŸŒ They’re not just workers. They’re the planet’s first line of defense. We work alongside farmers and forest communities because we know the planet and its people can’t be separated. Today we celebrate the millions who feed and protect it—and we’re committed to building a world that works for them too. #InternationalWorkersDay #WorkersRights #SustainableLivelihoods #SustainableFuture #Farmers

How data, earth, and women intersect ā‹†Ėšź©œļ½” let’s tap into cyber ecofeminism. Inspired by the work of the wonderful work of @mindyseu who I had the pleasure of meeting last year . Check out the cyberfeminism index and tap into the World Wide Web of data and cyber feminism. I’ve been noodling on these themes in regards to ecofeminism (which my next book will explore) Words @greengirlleah Design @lillian.rainier
