It feels impossible that a week has passed since we we started production on Nervous Ravenous Hunger. I'm so so grateful that we made (/are making!) this movie.My collaborators -- I owe you everything.Anna: Truly couldn't have done it without you. So much of this is due to you.Destinee & Grant: Thanks for putting so much of yourself into this project. Feeling our synergy & how locked in we got this past weekend... it was special.Madi & Sam: I adore you both. I'm in this week's issue of @nationmag writing about Ari Aster's latest, Beau is Afraid."Though Beau Is Afraid is shot through with paranoia and oozes with Oedipal symptoms, it conveys no interiority, no underground, no unconscious. Its symbols are literalized, and everything is as it seems. The only surprising thing is that there is nothing surprising. The film is telling you this the whole way through."
