Honestly I can’t think of a better name for this project other than “inheritance and culture”. I believe it’s pretty evident as you scroll through these images how my mum and culture really influenced this shoot and stylíng. In one of my conversations with my mum I asked her what’s gonna happen to her jewellery since she ain’t wearing it no more, and she said “I’ll give them to you obviously you’ll have a better use for than any of your siblings”.

Alté meets high fashion

As an alté guy and someone who embodies and relates to the culture, I wanted to do a shoot bridging the gap between high fashion/class and the freedom of expression that is ALTÉ. I tried to get all the pieces n people I wanted for this shoot to reflect both alté n high class buh things don’t always go the way u planned. With that being said this is what we came up with. This shoot means a lot to me because it was inspired by one of my all time favourite artist @temsbaby or more precisely it was inspired by her song ‘INTERFERENCE’.

Whenever I listen to this song it’s like my soul and mind project away from my body and we have a conversation. My mind/soul are always in a constant battle with the body for freedom, the body holds the mind/soul back stopping them from reaching their fullest potential as a creative, as the stylist/artist they are meant to be, from reaching the greatest that they were destined for. The body so afraid to fail, afraid of opinions, a lack of confidence holds back the creativity, the vision, and dreams of the mind/soul. So as you scroll through the images you will be able to see how we tried to capture this with the fits and models. One model represents the soul/mind with the fluid, exaggerated poses and outgoing flowing fits. The other model shows more of a one dimensional approach with the poses and simple, restricted buh beautiful fits, even tries to mask their identity out of fear. With this project I wanted to remind myself to set my creativity, my heart and soul free. To free myself from the fear of creating and failing. To always trust myself, my vision, the process and my heart even when others can’t see it. Thank you to those who made this possible 🤎🙏🏾
