@innerstudioaus opened its second location in Melbourne’s South Yarra. The Aussie-born wellness concept blends resilience training with biophilic design to maximize recovery for its community of high-performers. Built with organic materials, extensive greenery, and natural lighting, the new studio includes a traditional sauna, cold plunges, two concrete magnesium pools, and indoor studio for mat Pilates, yoga, and breathwork classes. A grounding environment to reset and recenter, Inner Studio is bridging the gap between advanced recovery and natural wellness.

Constructed by Slade’s building firm, ROC Built, the sauna pairs eucalyptus-gray corrugated exterior cladding with a warm, cedar-lined interior and a leafy courtyard housing two concrete pools to completely cocoon visitors. As a skylight naturally illuminates the space to accentuate the shifting textures of wood grain and steam, an understated combination of meticulous woodwork, subtle lighting, and a steadily radiating central stove helps bathers clear their minds. Providing a modest, tranquil retreat from Melbourne’s bustling arts and coffee culture, Inner Studio invites locals to sit, contemplate, chat, and simply enjoy the heat. Most wellness claims are vague, this isn’t. In collaboration with La Trobe University, WISE and the Defence Science Institute, we recently completed a research project set out to measure what actually happens when you commit to the Inner Studio practice. Over 4 weeks, participants engaged in breathwork, cold, and heat exposure. The result? Improved sleep quality, reduced stress, better mood, and increased mindfulness; supported by physiological markers like lower sleep heart rate and higher HRV, indicating stronger recovery and nervous system regulation More importantly, the benefits didn’t just happen once, they built over time. This is what we mean by stress resilience. Not a moment of calm, but a system your body adapts to. Inner Studio is designed as a repeatable practice, one that supports how you recover, regulate, and show up. Grateful to @wise.australia @latrobeuni and @defencescience for supporting this research.
