Got to draw a great collaboration between
@davealvinoriginal and
@jimmiedalegilmore last night at
@levonhelmstudios . Both artists have meant so much to me over the years. First heard Dave Alvin when I was roommates with my buddy
@mr.jonesmusic back in Chicago when Alvin worked with X back in the late eighties. Became such a fan that I followed along with every solo album he’s made. I came across Gilmore’s music when I lived in Austin in the nineties and first got to meet and draw him at
@joespub about fifteen years ago. His wife bought a print or the original of that drawing out in the lobby of the Public Theatre after that show and I was high on a cloud for weeks. All of which is to say, if you can sense the grin I was sporting during the making of this drawing, you should know that individually (and now together), these two gentlemen have been bringing me joy for most of my life.
