My wife and I booked a show! On May 28th, @lukefromnashville will be coming to First Congo to play his incredible ambient pedal steel music in the sanctuary. @fosterfalls (dream folk) and Dream Journal (hypnagogic poetry) are rounding out the bill, and the whole thing will be accompanied by @infinitystairs visuals. They’ll be projection mapping directly onto a banner and some of the church architecture directly behind the artists. Crazy!
I wrote about this in my newsletter, but bringing music like this to a church has been a dream of mine ever since I’ve started attending Big Ears. It’s really the best kind of place to appreciate this kind of music, a space where you can just let yourself be consumed by sound and be with your own thoughts for a bit. Thank you so much to @bucklestew and the whole First Congo crew for allowing this to happen in the sanctuary. We got married there and now we’re booking one of my favorite working artists there. What a life.

We had the pleasure of capturing video of ‘Tulips at Twilight’ @memphisbotanic this past Friday night. Thank you for the #gifted tickets, MBG! This outdoor event paired the visual magic of @infinitystairs with the aural alchemy of @bealestreetquartet . The evening started subtle enough, but as the sun set and the woods grew dark, every tree, flower, and structure was transformed into a vibrant work of art. Infinity Stairs uses high-powered projectors and careful projection mapping techniques to bend the entire landscape into a dreamscape. It’s really something to behold.

What’s next for We Live on the New Madrid?

We Live on the New Madrid has cassette tapes on the way with the five songs we recorded in our home studio late last year. Those tapes will be available soon.

It was a total thrill to run live analog visuals 📺🫧 from the stage for our Memphis pals Greg Cartwright @thereigningsound and Krista Lynne @kristaw04 along with @k.williams216 , @evanmartinmartinevan , & endlessly creative mastermind Scott McMicken @pressonrecords . We manifested a sundown 🌅 that let us start the night’s visuals just in time for this amazing set. Fate delivered a beautiful golden hour that let the visuals pop and our heroes shine. ✨

We started the evening with a rendition of “Inner Peace” by @beautifulchorus 😌
The band sounded beyond stellar that night; they were intergalactic soul messengers. And last but never least @infinitystairs spectacularly painted the sky of the planetarium like the mad genius that he is. What a time it was! Truly one for the books! 😘massive gratitude for everyone who showed up to support us that night. Thank you @flailing_arms & @memphismuseums (and Richard on lasers) for so generously inviting and hosting us 🙏🏽 @sirmorganlbell did the impossible and managed to capture video in a dark room. Much gratitude for you my brother.
