When Guitar Center came to Infinite Power Studios to film a spotlight on the Groove Synthesis 3rd Wave, it was more than just a demo—it was a moment to reflect how sound design, my creative philosophy, and the spirit of Infinite Power Studios all inform the design of a contemporary musical instrument. I’ve been deeply involved with the 3rd Wave since day one—beta testing, sound design, development input—and seeing it evolve into a powerhouse instrument has been an inspiring process. What a whirlwind and busy year 2024 has been. Out everywhere today is my remix of @kmfdm_official “Yoü”. It was a real pleasure to work on this one and the whole @infinitepowerstudios team went all in. Check it wherever you stream music. From the @metropolisrecords press release: As a producer, I feel like I’m always trying to pave the way for the new, but none of us are above our foundational influences. Such is KMFDM for me; a teenage instruction manual on how to arrange a song and subvert the status quo all packaged under an ultra heavy beat. To remix your heroes is no small task, and on this one, my production team and I spared no expense. The entire remix was done purely on hardware samplers and synthesisers, using a Synclavier PSMT system, an analog Neve console and mixing straight to tape. The final outcome is my Kunst ‘93 remix, stylistically a classic 12” club vibe but with that added INHALT touch and bound by a profound appreciation for all that is KMFDM, old and new.

It was a teenage dream of mine to work on a Synclavier with a proper console in my own studio and produce what I consider to be cutting edge based on how I percieve that term. 5 years ago I took out a big loan to purchase the Ams Neve 8424 and around the same time I got my PSMT running. My friend @krellthewarrior brought over his @rolandglobal TR-1000 and we proceeded to spend an empirical afternoon together programming it to sound like my vintage TR-808 and TR-909. Much has been mentioned about the analog direct outputs of the TR-1000 but seldom heard. We aimed to fix that. Everything was broken out on all machines and mixed analog on my Neve console to remove the internal mixing on any machines. If there are pitch or tone differences, it’s because the TR-1000 did not have those controls or enough range to match 1:1 to my particular vintage machines.
