🪨INFA003🪨 Label boss Bluetoof returns for his second contribution to the INFA series,the third release on the label. the e.p titled "diggin a hole" explores the sonic identity of 2 found artefacts, pictured in the artwork. the title track "Diggin a hole" starts fast and hollow setting the scene for the rest of the project, building atmosphere with dubbed out percs and spaced out foley, echoing a feeling of tension and unease until advancing into the next stage of the "dig", progressively through the track a mind warping arpeggio leads the track into the final percussive advance. the second track "the hole got deeper" mimics a lot of structural elements of the A side, peppered with heavier drumming building constantly throughout, crescendoing into a synth line that becomes almost completely silent, before a dubbed out siren opens the main drop, a hollowed bass melody carries the track through to an optimistic ending and change in mood symbolising the discovery of the pictured artefacts. the final track of the release "cavernous" is a sonic representations of the environment the found artefacts occupied in the time they where made, an eery call echoes at the start of the track, with an advancing synth line leading the percussion forward giving the sense of a hunt taking place. the eery dubbed call continues to be repeated through the track with the constantly evolving percussion paired with the footstep like kick drum patterns, reinforcing the feeling of being chased or escaping something. the track intensifies as the melodic percussion rushes to a drum heavy summit. Releasing this Friday, early purchases of the e.p will receive the last track “cavernous” straight away and the full project on Friday. Infa Red Recordings present their second release by Copenhagen-based artist Muskila, a nimble two-tracker that follows on perfectly from Bluetoof’s debut for the label earlier this year. The title track ‘Bateekh’ is a heavily percussive roller, which teams up a combination of traditional darbuka drums and driving breakbeats, the former an ode to Muskila’s roots. His heritage is further echoed in the titling of the release, which translates to “watermelon”, a symbol of the resistance of the Palestinian people. The B-side ‘Hayvan’ compliments the title track with similar percussive rhythms, this time set at a more scatterbrained 150bpm, with deranged, evolving melodies that build to a huge crescendo of drums before settling into a satisfyingly dubby lull.
