The BLUMITSU universe is expanding. The initial premise of the project was to provide Bluetoof and Jossy Mitsu the freedom to explore the headsier lanes of techno and electro. Bluetoof had made his name in the garage scene alongside DJs such as Interplanetary Criminal, Main Phase and Dr Dubplate whereas Jossy Mitsu had come up playing the full spectrum of bass music as part of the Six Figure Gang collective. BLUMITSU was a blank canvas: free from these associations and an opportunity to get creative. Rooted in electro while retaining a distinct UK flair, the duo have been catapulted to the worldwide stage following hit releases on legacy dubstep label Tempa and their own imprint BLUMITSU LABORATORIES. Standout performances at fabric, Glastonbury, Horst and UNFOLD where the duo weave together their own productions — including custom intros for every set and their “B-L-U-M-I-T-S-U” tagline which fans know perform their very own YMCA to — with electro, techno, house and bass reflect a confidence to mix anything together.  They’re also tapping into the long-standing connection between electro and science fiction, present since Kraftwerk took on robotic personas and Afrofuturist imagery became adopted by key players in the US such as Drexciya, Cybotron/Model 500 and Egyptian Lover. It felt natural for BLUMITSU to follow this lineage, especially given Jossy Mitsu’s background in biology, and has become a bedrock of their identity. Since their inception BLUMITSU have brought a physicality to their work, handing out vials of ‘The Formula’ at their DJ sets, donning hazmats, and hosting their first audio-visual “immersive experiment” at Ormside Projects. The collaboration between DJ/producers and friends @bluetoof and @jossymitsu started with the idea to merge their consecutive Wednesday evening Rinse FM radio shows, creating an electrifying B2B show exploring the darker sides of high-octane electro and techno. Since then, the duo have performed at establishments such as the legendary fabric, WHP, and Glastonbury plus toured across Asia, the US and Europe.
