About last night… Thank you to my BRILLIANT panellists @winniemli @jamiejbartlett and @lukejenningsauthor for helping to illuminate the clear lines and complexities around #ai and writing for the Alternative Book Fair event, Human Writes. Our conversation ranged from the creative origins of their own work such as Winnie’s magnificent novel What We left Unsaid and Luke’s Killing Eve series to the writing process of ChatGPT and the like, tackling big philosophical questions about humanity alongside practicalities such as how much we feed the beasts by using them and whether schemes such as @thesocietyofauthors ’ Human Authored kitemark can make a difference. I came away clutching a signed copy of Jamie‘s How to Talk to AI (And How Not To), the only book I couldn’t read before the panel because it’s only just been published. Can’t wait to dive in today. Also highly recommend Jamie‘s podcast Everything Is Fake (And Nobody Cares) plus his others on the broader subject area of tech and human life including of course The Missing Cryptoqueen. Thanks too to @indienovellapublishing - for a rare sighting of Damien in the wild see the last picture - for setting up the wonderful Alternative Book Fair with @indiepressnetwork and to the lovely team at @islingtonlib including Monica and Karen.
