Out now on Index Clean – Absurd Cosmos Late Nite ‘Final Lives III’. This digital-only release collects all Absurd Cosmos Late Nite action from 2025 performed live or submitted to radio programs. Site-specific bummer conversations delivered across three states. On a couple of occasions, I unfortunately forgot to bring a recording device (other than the one intended for the performance), so studio versions recorded after the live date are included in this collection. To an even greater extent than the 2024 ‘Final Lives II’ release, the duration makes a physical version of this material prohibitive. All proceeds from this release go to Palestine Australia Relief and Action (para.org.au). As with ‘Final Lives II’, individual track downloads are not available for this one; it’s all or nothing, my friend.

Things have been a bit quiet over here for most of 2025, so it’s great to see the sole label release for the year - SCUM by Posset has made Noel Gardner’s top 10 New Weird Britain releases of 2025 over @thequietus . I haven’t sent out one of these Eric Schmid single sided LP / CDR / artist’s book packages in a while, but had an order come through this week. While packing it up I remembered something that happened after it was released. When discussing the presentation of this project, Eric requested that the release resemble a Slowscan album, in line with a previous work in a similar vein released on @recitalprogram . That cover took some familiar elements from Slowscan covers, but maintained some connection to the visual style of Recital. I took a much more direct approach, and chose to clearly appropriate the layout characteristics of one of my favourite releases on the label - the Richard Maxfield double LP. I could never afford a physical copy, but you know… YouTube granted me access. In my interpretation, collage and occasional appropriation are familiar components in the visual side of Eric’s work, so I thought this approach was appropriate.
Shortly after it was released I was contacted by Jeroen Wille, the graphic designer who executed the layout for the Richard Maxfield double LP the cover for Hans Ulrich Obrist clearly appropriated. Jeroen continues to produce incredible work, including a few recent rippers for Ultra Eczema. He was really cool about the whole thing - mostly just curious as to why an obvious appropriation was pursued for the layout. It felt pretty good to be able to explain that it was a kind of tribute and I was very clear about its origins and context.
Anyway there are a few copies of the ‘Hans Ulrich Obrist’ + Bernhard Kleist ‘Chaotic Neutral’ + ‘Total Work of Art’ package still available. You should check it out when you get a chance, it’s good shit and genuinely hilarious.

The first Index Clean release for 2025 is from Joe Murray’s Posset. ‘SCUM’ is a singular interpretation of Napalm Death’s 1987 debut using Dictaphones, tapes, crappy mobile phone apps, piano, guitar, bric-a-brac, bells, clarinet, melodica and voice.
In Joe’s own words, “This is a love letter to ‘Scum’; messy, heartfelt, and a little hot underneath the collar. For better or for worse, ‘Scum’, you made me what I am today.”
Digital downloads include alternative versions of ‘The Kill’, ‘You Suffer’, ‘Success?’, and ‘Deceiver’.
