I carried these feelings quietly for a long time..the numbness, the doubt, the slow fading of something I once held close.
But the deeper I went, the more I realized this wasn’t just my experience. So many of us have been here. So many of us have felt the ache of trying to find our way back to ourselves.

A few weeks ago I shared on my story that there is funding in Houston for creatives, and that lack of funding should not be the thing that slows your momentum.
I was able to pull off my debut art show at that scale because I received a $20K grant from @houstonartsalliance . That support made a real difference, and I want to see everyone eat.
So I created this post to break down the Support for Artists and Creative Individuals Grant (SACI) from HAA.
My biggest advice: read the grant guide thoroughly (the 2026 guide should be published soon on the HAA website), follow all instructions, and connect with their support team even if you feel confident about your application. Do that before you apply.
