Have you ever tried turning down the volume of a horror movie? ...is it still scary?
Drones, or cinematic ambient soundscapes, are a fundamental part of any audiovisual project.
Whether it’s a film, a video game, or any other type of media, audio is the main vehicle that carries precise and targeted emotions to the audience.
It’s what makes the experience as immersive and deep as possible.
Suspense, adrenaline, calm, joy, danger — these are all emotions we experience in different moments of real life.
In the same way, a film or a video game has its own highs and lows, a kind of narrative pathos that, combined with sound, makes the experience authentic and engaging.
Everyone reacts differently, because what we feel while watching or playing reflects the way we perceive and experience our own reality.
In this video, I’m sharing my vision of the powerful cinematic drone, based on what I consider the three core pillars:
Layering – Movement – Spatiality.
I want to thank the team at
@instruomodular for creating Arbhar — probably the most inspiring module I’ve ever tried, a real diamond for creativity.
