Diversity and inclusion should not be considered in silos.
As we celebrate #MardiGras2023 and #SydneyWorldPride, I'd like to acknowledge #LGBTQIA+ individuals living with #disability. Acknowledging and appreciating intersectional issues is a critical aspect of meaningful inclusion. #MardiGras

Last night was the Australian Human Rights Commission's Human Rights Awards 2022. It was great to see Hotel Etico Australia, which seeks to improve the employment opportunities of people with disability, win the Community Award.
As we all reflect upon #HumanRightsDay, and the importance of the United Nations General Assembly passing the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in 1948, it is fantastic to see innovative models of inclusion being recognised. The theme for this year's Human Rights Day is, "Dignity, Freedom and Justice for All". Employment of people wih disability in long-term and sustainable jobs is a critical human rights issue now and in the future.
Nas Campanella, from the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, did a great job as MC at the Human Rights Awards.

Today is International Day for People with Disability.
It is a day when we acknowledge the important role of people with disability in society. This year's theme set by the United Nations is: "Transformative solutions for inclusive development – the role of innovation in fuelling an accessible and equitable world".
The theme is a long one, but maybe the best way to think of it is that all innovation and technoogy needs to be inclusive of people with #disability.
Many organisations and businesses will talk about pursuing Sustainable Development Goals or respecting human rights without specifically acknowledging the importance of people with disability. This needs to change.
