i miss slow museum days

when life gives you lemonsssss you scoop it out, fill it with brown butter cinnamon crumble, lemon curd, mascarpone and cream cheese filling, bitter orange and mint preserve 🍋🍊

resident’s slow walker because how else would i catch cool windowpanes and funky looking chairs? also needed a moment to stop and wonder what that lone dapper looking elder was thinking

i think a huge chunk of life is about finding people to cook for and to cook with 🫱

never a dull time when we band along, eid and beyond!!

never thought i’d be cut out to host a proper PODCAST but when i heard that the topic was about art as a form of resistance and i’ll be interviewing an amazing children’s book illustrator, i just knew i had to wear my big girl pants, take off my top braces, and step into the role. so i did!! not perfect, but as best as i could!!! that morning @audriasabila did my makeup while i argued with mum about whether my forehead is too big (conclusion: yes, but mum says it’s a feature rather than a flaw. though i think she said it because i got it from her but anywayy). then i slipped into the most breathtakingly beautiful top from @totonthelabel which felt like an absolute DREAM to wear thank you to mas @mistertoton !! the ball of nerves that i was immediately relaxed after a conversation with @agiaputri.yugianto - her insights were beyond sharp and her art felt incredibly lively. not to mention her soft soothing voice and tender choice of words, i could talk to her aaall daaaaaay. she brought a yellow flower 🌼 to set and said it was given to her by her son so she would feel less nervous and everyone AAAWWed 🥺 also turns out the yellow flower worked wonders because she did her interview sooo well while i had to retake the closing ment 5 times and @shafiraumm reminded me to take DEEP BREATHS 🧘 so long story short, i learned a great deal that day and suuuper grateful to be a part of @luminihsan ! thank you sooo much for the opportunity and trust @guzeme , hope i could improve moreee and moree with time inshaaAllahh 🩵 video is up on Luminihsan’s youtube if anyone wants to watch (OH THIS IS TOE CURLING..) the professional very nice looking pictures were taken by @apyfz ofc 😮‍💨👍

We’ve had at least three lectures talking about rizq to fully understand that MEETING THENBLANK TEAM IS DEFINITELY ONE OF THEM ☝️ from @mutiarakamila knocking Naya’s dm to actually pushing forward with this collaboration, everything felt just RIGHT and super duper natural. As the saying goes, jodoh pasti bertemu 😮‍💨 Speaking of jodoh, this “Janur” Raya Collection from THENBLANK took inspiration from the sacred vow of marriage and the way it is beautifully celebrated down to the symbolic meaning of every decorations. Since gathering is also known as a “walimah” Ka Muti had this brilliant idea of connecting it with our name, hence the title “Wa(l/h)immah” - mind bending, we know, too good to be true if you ask us. Then Aca started to work on the supper wedding-coded collateral designs and Ka Yola arranged all the beautiful decors that we regularly joke about how we should just make a WO service at this point. Upon discussing the theme of the session, two names kept popping up and felt just perfect for the evening. Both are inspiring women, wives, mothers, entrepreneurs, creators and all rounder icons, @nasariastri and @denaahaura 🩷 the host-speaker combo that tied the whole event together! Both THENBLANK and Himmah wanted the same thing, to bring meaning into gatherings and recentering our focus on values rather than views. In warmth, shared stories, knowledge, new connections, a good deal of food (Naya’s homemade Coconut Tres Leches, various traditional snacks, custom flavor donuts from @soughdara , dinner from @ayamsekandang and juices from @rejuveid ) also beautiful goodies (coconut soap with our very own custom packaging and the prettiest prayer gown from @kallia.label ) - the night ended with prayers and pictures but also a buzzing fulfilling bliss alhamdulillah. Or as @karina__kamil best put it; “FOUND MY PEOPLE!” Thank you soooo much to everyone who came and spent the evening together with us, we hope that every step took here could bring us closer to Allah’s mercy and His promise of nestling love in the hearts of His practicing believers [QS Maryam: 96] 🤍 So, same time next month? @thenblank 👀

a loose rendition of donal skehan’s holiday season recipe with a bunch of personal tweaks (a splash of capers juice in the tomato marination gives a nice tang also generously folded in chopped basil in the ricotta layer) and made it HEART SHAPEDD 🍅❤️ I used to dread making pie crust from scratch because i have warm hands. I plowed through and by the end of the 40minute bake my whole kitchen smelled like a joint leg between a pizzeria and a bakery. After it’s all done and served, about 7 people told me to open a restaurant. So all in all, i consider it a warm small success!! hoping to afford moooore and more @himmah_____ open tables to come inshaaAllahh 🤏

life’s a riddle i wish i understood a little better but at least i know myself well enough to stand on things that actually matter

first mini try at solo traveling brought me a day where i started at an empty art gallery (very ideal) and ended up lost in rainy manila, eating at someone’s garage (less ideal). While walking wherever the wind took me was fun, turns out I still prefer having a travel companion because: 1. I need someone to tell my art gallery jokes to 2. I am prone to clicking the wrong location on google maps (it was my ‘christopher columbus this is india, he’s in america’ moment) 3. And lastly, I somehow managed to miss my connecting flight back while sitting at a cafe right next to my gate but that’s a story for another time (got a 5-hour KL detour and a very sweet hadith in return so all considered, not mad??) But yeah guys, i really dooooo like traveling aaaa !!
