Currently engaged in making funding applications look visually striking... 📸 And while we are at it, people, budget for a professional photographer and have me along to document your events! #gsff26 #glasgowshortfilmfestival #eventphotographer

That time I took photos of Oscar winner Jessie Buckley doing a country set at Glasgow's Grand Ole Opry after a screening of Wild Rose at Glasgow Film Festival 2019. 🏆 🎬 🎤🤠 📸 @glasgowfilmfest @glasgowgrandole #jessiebuckley #oscars #oscarwinner

March is here! Month of film festivals galore in Glasgow - and my busiest time of the year as a photographer who loves films, and feels lucky enough to document a lot of screening events. @glasgowfilmfest is already in full swing, and it will be followed by @glasgowshort and @catalanfilmfest (joining forces for their opening night this year). Here is small selection of frames from one of my favourite parts of Glasgow Film Festival, the Special Events. I've been photographing these cult films screenings since 2015 and they're a constant reminder of how much joy cinema can bring into your life. You never know what sort of surprises awaits around the corner... See you all somewhere near a big screen! #gff26 #cinema #glasgoweventphotographer

Every time I get my film scans back, they're received with a mix of disappointment at the 90% of utterly bad photos I take (a reminder of why I hated photography when I first picked up a camera in the late 90s, before digital was a thing), and excitement for the one or two shots that aren't out of focus, at least. Leaving already exposed and unstable emulsions that don't age well sitting in the fridge for years doesn't help either... I kind of miss lockdown. I miss having the time to do things that make me happy. Back then, I joined Drawing Life's Portrait Club sessions online and started drawing again. I bought a bunch of new materials, started using Procreate on an old iPad, even had some of my work included in a group exhibition... But then life went back to "normal". And as much as I enjoy my work as a photographer, it's a constant struggle - I'm either swamped by a mountain of photos to edit or stressed about when the next job will come. Right now, work precarity and the lack of a home are just the tip of the iceberg of my worries. There's no time or space in my brain for much else. I need worries-free time to dust off that Fine Arts degree, go back to my roots and explore who I am as an artist now. However, I've talked myself out of applying for funding a couple of times because I felt a bit like a fraud and overwhelmed - to be honest, I don't even know where to start with those long arts applications. It's a catch-22 situation. I haven't drawn anything in ages, so here are some old portrait sketches on the iPad. #lifedrawing #portraitdrawing #zoomdrawing

Sadly, I can't speak a word of French. But I very much enjoyed my two days of French culture immersion in Glasgow with an incredible Yann Tiersen closing Celtic Connection on Sunday, followed by a fantastic talk about comics and languages last night... When your new favourite bookshop travel west from Edinburgh to Glasgow, you have to go and add another graphic novel to your collection. What an insightful conversation between artist James Albon, French expat Anabelle Araujo from @labelleadventure_bookshop and Dr Rhiannon McGlade! All of us who love graphic novels, literature, cinema and have been through the process of learning and trying to communicate in a different language, can relate with the topics discussed last night. Organized in collaboration with @afglasgow as part of Strathclyde University's Living Languages series - I really recommend these informal talks. Looking forward to diving into James's new book Love Languages! 🤓📖 #supportlocaltalent #jamesalbon #yanntiersen

January's been quiet as usual. Being a freelancer in the creative industries is tough. Sometimes, I feel like giving up, and I complain A LOT. But the truth is that I love what I do. I love how my photography neatly ties to my passions and keeps me exposed to art and creativity constantly. And I love those little full-circle moments that happen unexpectedly while I'm doing my job. Jo Mango is one of those musicians whose talent mesmerises me. I saw her playing many times during my first few years in Scotland. From Glasgow to a tiny music festival up in Aviemore that I used to photograph every June. Listening to her beautiful voice again was like a balm to my soul. October 2025. First @celtic_connections gig of the year was a front row seat to see everybody's favourite town troubadour, @grantleephillips at Cottiers on Friday. I could have spent all night listening to his music and stories! Since it might be a while until the next trip to my local, friendly lab (exposed rolls are slowly piling up at the back of the fridge), here is a frame from last time he played at the festival. I think this was the first outing of my go-to concert camera - scans were a bit rough 😬 Grant-Lee Philips, January 2023. 📷 Ricoh 500 ME 🎞️ Kodak TMAX P3200 Dev & scan by @gulabiphoto #grantleephillips #35mmfilm #musiconfilm

I don't have some enviable stats to show or the desire to brag about 2025 - it was a tough year for me at so many levels. To my 2026, I ask for more of this: more films, more music, more theatre, more fun events, meaningful collaborations and enriched collective experiences. More art in all its forms, please! Frames from my documentary photography work during 2025 with: @borschtfc @mhfestival @samizdatfilm @glasgowshort @takeoneaction @glasgowfilmfest #glasgoweventphotographer #eventphotographyglasgow #documentaryeventglasgow

"Consider what a great girl you are. Consider what a long way you've come to-day. Consider what o'clock it is. Consider anything, only don't cry!" Firmado atentamente, Ingrid Glasgow, June 2025. 📷 Voigtländer Vitomatic IIa 🎞️ Kodak Pro Image 100 Dev & scan by @analoguewonderland #nochedereyes #alicethroughthelookingglass #bigfilmphotowalk

2025... 🖕🖕 I'm not quite sure how I've made it to the end of the year. The last time that my GP checked on me was a day before my birthday in September, with no other support offered apart from an antidepressants prescription that I pick up weekly from the nearest pharmacy. The mental health services rejected my referrals, twice, in a year when rejection hit me hard at all levels. My mushy brain only managed to finish reading a handful of short stories and a (also, short) novel when I needed some laughs in between cries. “[I] had gotten to the point where I simply could not make a bad vinaigrette, this was not exactly the stuff of drama. (Even now, I cannot believe Mark would want to risk losing that vinaigrette. You just don't bump into vinaigrettes that good.)” #livingwithdepression #mentalhealthawareness #mentalhealthmatters
