Together with University of Glasgow’s Biodiversity Group and the Glasgow University Environmental Sustainability Team (GUEST), we warmly invite participants, biodiversity activists and the wider public to an informal closing event at the Goethe‑Institut & Alliance Française Glasgow for the Kelvingrove Biodiversity Challenge 2026! From 7 to 14 May 2026, participants were invited to take part in a participatory bioblitz using iNaturalist, a free app that allows users to record and identify plants, animals and fungi while contributing to a global biodiversity database. This database can be used by researchers and scientists for mapping the development of biodiversity. The challenge can be completed at everyone’s own pace during the week. The evening will include a short student‑led reflection on grassroots climate and biodiversity action, followed by an opportunity to celebrate the collective contributions, share experiences and continue the conversation. 📅 14 May at 6pm, 3 Park Circus More infos can be found through the link in our bio! 🔗

Following a week at @cove_park , our artists in residence Carolin Seeliger (@carolinseeliger ) and Eleonora Strano (@eleonorastrano ) travelled on to Linkshouse at the @pierartscentre in Orkney. There, they spent a week exploring the island’s flora (and fauna!), from the Ness of Brodgar to the ocean cliffs, and finding fresh inspiration in their new surroundings. They return to Glasgow tomorrow, and will join us to share reflections on their residency. If you’d like to learn more about their journey, join us on the 12 May at 6pm at 3 Park Circus to hear them speak about their time in Scotland. Earth Month 2026: Slow travel artist residency heading to Cove Park! 🎨 After a first week in Edinburgh and Glasgow, exploring urban green spaces, beaches, and taking part in a tour of the Glasgow School of Art and its sustainability initiatives (@gsasustainability ), our artists in residence Carolin Seeliger (@carolinseeliger ) and Eleonora Strano(@eleonora_strano ) spent time at @cove_park , where they joined an international community of artists in residence, exchanging ideas and sharing practices. Here is a glimpse of some impressions from the journey so far: landscapes, encounters and works gradually taking shape while on the move. To reflect on their journey and residency, we invite the public to an informal talk with both artists on Tuesday 12 May, 6pm at 3 Park Circus, Glasgow, exploring slow travel as artistic practice, ecological responsibility, and the role of cultural institutions in times of climate urgency. And if you want to find out more about Earth Month, the slow travel artist residency and our full programme, you can find all infos via the link in our bio! 🔗 © Leonie Hiller (1-3), Carolin Seeliger (4-6), Eleonora Strano (7-10)

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us for our first Earth Month 2026 events in Glasgow last week and made it a memorable two days! Last Thursday, we connected global perspectives on deforestation with local action on rewilding thanks to the insightful perspectives of French diplomat and international climate expert Sylvie Lemmet, and Harley Mathieson, senior project officer for The Conservation Volunteers in Glasgow, followed by a lively and engaging discussion with our audience. On Friday, we took the conversation outdoors, exploring the urban nature at Park Circus in a workshop with Emma Sandhu, reflecting on our local environment and the importance of rewilding. Thank you to our wonderful speakers for sharing their knowledge and inspiration, and to all our visitors for their curiosity, enthusiasm, and participation! 🌱 What’s next? There are more Earth Month events happening this week in Edinburgh, hosted at the Institut français d’Écosse, with additional activities taking place throughout the rest of the month. You can find all infos about Earth Month 2026, as well as our events through the link in our bio! 🔗 Earth Month 2026 is a collaborative initiative between Goethe-Institut Glasgow, Institut français d’Écosse, and Alliance Française Glasgow, aimed at fostering cultural exchange and climate action through artistic and cultural practice. The programme brings together France, Germany, and Scotland in a dynamic, multidisciplinary dialogue around sustainability, with a particular focus on oceans and rewilding. We look forward to continuing the conversation - in Glasgow, Edinburgh and beyond. 🍃 © Goethe-Institut Glasgow
