I’m super excited for my first feature at Slamlandia!
I’ve been competing in poetry slams for the past two years and all of my growth as a writer, performer, and poet is thanks to the incredible organizers @geekgirlgrownup and @janebelinduh for giving me a space to perform and cultivating such an incredible community! The show will be on the 16th at 7pm @literaryarts ! I hope to see y’all there!
Before Black History Month ends, I’d like to take the time to express my deepest gratitude to the Black Spoken Word community. Those before and after me and the spiral staircase we continue to ascend, while dizzying- is one of the most satisfying journeys I could be blessed with.
Thank you to the allies and friends I adore and who continue to protect and honor me. Thank you to all of those who shared their stories, songs and hands/bodies for the audience.
Thank you to all the organizers, host, AV, photographers, videographers and technicians that made this possible. A special thanks to the service workers who also kept us merry with libations.
Black, Back and Beyond 🙂↕️🫶🏾🖤 Please remember to pray, sing and/or dance for those currently affected by U.S Imperialism and senseless violence.

Thank you to @thepeoplespoets for hosting another great event! I got to perform a poem I wrote about the end of a friendship.

I was walking around an apartment complex and some random girl rolls down her window and shouts at me from five stories up: “Hey is that Frank?”
I start looking around and say “Who the hell is Frank?”

Last Saturday, May 17th marked a gathering of community members, students, educators, elected officials, and activists who truly believe in this: that Asian American education can and will make a difference to our children in Oregon’s K-12 education. It was a gathering that meant so much to us and would not have happened if not for the energy and efforts of MUV Oregon’s steering committee — all volunteer driven and grassroots. To those who made it out last Saturday, a huge THANK YOU, SALAMAT, GRACIAS for celebrating Make Us Visible oregon’s community launch. This is only the beginning! <3 Photos credited to both Julie Arwan and Omar Granados. Make Us Visible Oregon Community Launch!! - Ethelyn Tumalad-Granados.
“Breaking Broken” is wrapped! I really loved getting to work with such wonderful people on a short film written by one of my favorite poets!
I had a lot of fun, got to work on a very welcoming set, and built relationships with a ton of wonderful people. Very much looking forward to recording sound on more sets! #womeninfilm #oregonfilm
