I’m always drawn to artists who build their own worlds. I’m especially interested in clothes with dramatic tension and runway shows that feel performative — which is why I’ve always admired @jeanlouiecastillo work.
This was my third time photographing his runway during London Fashion Week. His collections feel less like seasonal releases and more like an expanding universe.
This season’s SILVERCITY was shown at The Mandrake Hotel — a setting that naturally fits his gothic and theatrical language. Dramatic silhouettes, metallic reflections in shadow, and garments that feel closer to artifacts than fashion.
I keep finding myself drawn back to photograph his work — a tension I’ve always admired, suspended between burning and decay, and between eruption and tenderness.
