Second time in my life visiting Ålesund - and wow, what a beautiful, (literary) cool and windy city..
During our stay an entire mountainside caught fire (!) 🔥 but luckily no homes were damaged this time (not like 1904).
Spent inspiring days working with @xamse and @justynabilik on a new film idea 🎬✨ Thank You Midtnorsk Filmsenter .
Also visited some family graves and took in the breathtaking scenery in Romsdalen, - truly a stunning place 💙

I had the pleasure of joining @gazelawlaponii Gosia Dvorakova on her Polish‑Norwegian 🇵🇱🇳🇴 podcast «Life in Norway». We talked about what it means to «fit in» and «pass» as a Norwegian, and the challenges and richness of living between two cultures. ⛷️🎥
We also discussed my film Norwegian Dream – the story of a young Pole in Norway, inspired by real events, that opens conversations about identity, dignity, queerness, racism, national identity (or just intersectionality) and the courage to be yourself. 💪🏽🌈

A journey down memory lane — for me, but also a new discovery of a fascinating piece of Polish (diaspora) history at Maisons-Laffitte. — The home of renowned «Stowarzyszenie Instytut Literacki Kultura», a place for free speech and intellectual debate during a time when communist censorship silenced many voices in Poland. «Kultura» also famously published Gombrowicz’s diaries, novels and plays, as well as writers like Czesław Miłosz. When Miłosz defected from Poland in 1951 he lived in Maisons-Laffitte for about three and a half months, writing «The Captive Mind». Amazing place to stay with so much history in the walls ... It gives some perspective ... Living in totalitarian states is not fun.
As the editor of «Kultura» put it on a sign on his door: «Cave hominem» — bevare of man(kind).

Om to dager er det tre år siden Putin angrep og han og Russland har fortsatt å angripe Ukraina. Kartet her er fra 26. februar 2022 og viser situasjonen på bakken den dagen, med et koordinert angrep av russiske styrker på tre fronter i Ukraina.
Putin er nå den Trump vil forhandle med, og han fremstiller Ukraina som den som angrep.
