What does it take to move Africa from potential to prosperity? I sat down with Aliko Dangote, President of @dangotegroup and one of the most consequential industrialists of our time, to find out. We talked about African-led investment, job creation at scale, and what it truly takes to build a prosperous Africa. Watch our full conversation here: youtu.be/mtW-T-RI7Es

Africa’s sports economy is projected to reach $20B by 2035 — and investors should be paying attention. I just wrapped an incredible conversation with @elenigiokoscnn and @masaiujiri , co-founder of @giantsofafrica , on why arenas, courts, and concert venues are as vital to Africa’s future as roads and power infrastructure. Securing broadcast and merchandising rights, building transparent sponsorship markets, leveraging audience data, and developing multi-use arenas that generate year-round revenue will be critical to unlocking #Africa’s sports and entertainment potential. The sports value chain can become a true game-changer for the continent. Let’s build it. #CreativeEconomy #IFCinAfrica #ACF2026

Africa’s next phase of growth will be built through partnership — with countries and businesses investing in one another’s success. Strong momentum at #ACF26 as IFC signed a series of partnerships focused on one goal: helping Africa scale. 1. @ifc_org and @myaccessbank signed an up to $500M equivalent framework to scale local currency financing for MSMEs, agribusiness, housing, and infrastructure across #Africa. 2. Partnering with Zaria Group, led by @masaiujiri , co-founder of @giantsofafrica , to help build a multi-country platform for sports and entertainment districts across #Africa. 3. In a first-of-its-kind partnership, IFC is providing €300M in long-term financing to @boad_official to boost investment in job-rich sectors across #UEMOA. In return, BOAD will provide IFC with a flexible XOF facility to support more cost-efficient local-currency financing across the region

Proud to join the @africanunion_official , @worldbankgroup colleagues, and government partners at the high-level #AIM2030 breakfast focused on turning commitment into action for Africa’s health future. COVID-19 exposed a hard truth: #Africa’s dependence on global supply chains for medicines and health products left millions vulnerable during crises. #AIM2030 is about delivery — expanding access to affordable medical products through stronger local manufacturing and more resilient health systems across the continent. By mobilizing private capital, strengthening regional value chains, and advancing practical solutions, we can help drive greater self-reliance, industrialization, and job creation in Africa’s health sector. This effort also supports the World Bank Group’s goal of reaching 1.5 billion people with quality health services by 2030.

Engaging #AfricaForward session on sports with Presidents @emmanuelmacron , @williamsamoeiruto , @prdiomaye , and @officialdumaboko_ . Pleased to deliver the keynote on how Africa’s sports economy can become a stronger driver of jobs, skills, inclusion, and investment. @ifc_org is closing the infrastructure gap by backing bankable sports facilities and crowding in private capital with partners incl. Proparco, Summa & Zaria. Governments must invest in sport to power education, skills and youth opportunity.

Across emerging markets, demand for financing far exceeds supply. Addressing this gap requires systems that can mobilize private capital repeatedly and at scale. IFC uses credit insurance as part of its strategy to reduce risk on loans so capital can flow more efficiently to banks and financial institutions that support job‑creating businesses. The latest $6 billion facility shows how risk‑sharing mechanisms can be embedded into long‑term financial infrastructure. Learn more about it in this video.
