Home Sweet Home 🏠❤️ We opened the doors of our Paris home to @elledecorationfr — a soft, cosy cocoon filled with artworks that tell our story. Pieces gathered over time, from travels and family, that shape our most intimate space. Set within a former tie factory in the heart of Paris, the duplex reveals open, light-filled living spaces balanced by secluded, quiet rooms. At its centre, an open kitchen anchors the home — the beating heart of a serene, luminous refuge where comfort meets emotion. Nous avons ouvert les portes de notre maison parisienne à ELLE Decoration — un cocon doux et chaleureux, rempli d’œuvres d’art qui racontent notre histoire. Des pièces réunies au fil du temps, au gré de nos voyages et de notre famille, qui façonnent notre espace le plus intime. Installé dans une ancienne fabrique de cravates au cœur de Paris, le duplex dévoile des espaces de vie ouverts et baignés de lumière, contrastant avec des chambres isolées et paisibles. En son centre, une cuisine ouverte devient le cœur battant de ce refuge serein et lumineux, où confort et émotion se rencontrent. I’m so happy to have been able to write the cover story in the new September issue of @elledecor in which @jeanlouisdeniot worked his magic States-side to create a fabulously striking interior for a double-lot townhouse on New York’s Upper East Side. He was aided and abetted by the most fabulous client, who gave me one of the most inspiring interviews I’ve done in some time. Bellissimo Bellini! The @jacquemartandre has long been one of my favourite museums and the current Bellini exhibition is just breathtaking. There is such grace, incredible colour combinations, a bizarrely striking modernity and the rarest of qualities - pure genius - in his paintings. There seems to be a lot of gimmicky furniture around these days, which I’m not convinced will stand the test of time. So, it’s refreshing to see something so elegant and essential as this #hongkongstool designed by @herzogdemeuron and presented by @pierre_marie_giraud at @designmiami in Basel in June. I love the fact there are no screws and that it’s held together instead by one of its bamboo elements.

I feel privileged to have been able to produce a shoot on this house in the Chiltern Hills in England, designed by @david.chipperfield What made it even more special were the homeowners, Mike and Maria Spink, who were so wonderfully gracious and hospitable, and served both delicious white wine and a scrumptious chocolate cake made with olive oil. Their commitment to both the project and environment was also extremely admirable. The house itself is in the most magnificent setting - at the top of a valley with sweeping uninterrupted views. Chipperfield has compared it to a dam and describes this colonnade along the front facade as “a bridge.” “The columns become the mediator between the domestic scale of the house and the enormous landscape,” he told me. From time to time, you come across true creative genius and @doug__meyer has it in spades. His work brings together a deep knowledge of the decorative arts with originality, audacity and playfulness. I’ve written about one project where he covered the walls of the living room with a criss-cross pattern of black tape. There were nearly 2.2km of it in all. He also clad his own former flat with almost 3,000 sheets of multicoloured paper. This is his current NYC apartment - a riot of bright hues, funky forms and… well, pure genius. I produced two different stories on designer Didier Gomez’s former apartment in the Marais district… eight years apart. At our first meeting, I turned up and could hear what I assumed was a CD of Chopin piano music through the front door. It turned out to be Didier playing with great virtuosity on his grand piano. I later discovered he had trained as an opera singer before turning to design. These photos are from the second shoot after he’d redecorated the space. The change had been spurred by a call from a storage unit in Normandy asking whether he was ever going to retrieve a stock of paintings, including several Vasarelys and a Donald Judd, he’d left there two decades earlier. Didier had completely forgotten all about them! His clients over the years have included Harrison Ford, Daniel Auteuil and Yves Saint Laurent, who were no doubt attracted not only by his style, but also his intelligence, depth and culture. I first met @damienlangloismeurinne about two decades ago when I profiled him for #adgermany Back then, he was fresh out of Christian Liaigre’s office and had just designed a furniture collection for @zimmerandrohde Since, I’ve produced stories on many of his projects and witnessed his career soar. As with only great designers, he has developed a style that is very much his own, driven by a strong sense of perspectives, great precision, interesting interplays of form and a beautiful use of materials. This capacious apartment on Paris’s Boulevard Saint Germain represented a leap to a new level for him, with a beautiful mix of vintage and custom pieces. This glorious house in Palm Springs was designed by architect William Cody in 1962 and was one of the most surreal shoots I’ve ever produced. The designer… who will remain nameless… seemed more intent on having fun than anything else. There were vodka-laced cocktails, an invitation to join him and his assistant in the jacuzzi, and several other eye-opening moments. Despite all the distractions, we fortunately managed to get some great photos. Sometimes editors surprise me. The first time I met Charlotte Macaux Perelman of @studiocmp she showed me a really cool and wonderfully original loft she’d renovated in New York. I pitched it to several magazines, all of whom turned it down. Maybe it was just too early because the project ended up being published numerous times via other vectors years later. Since then, Charlotte has moved on to become co-artistic director for Hermès Maison and I’ve had the joy of producing stories in several apartments she’s decorated in Paris, including this one near the Parc Monceau. To each, she brings her astute architectural eye and great precision, as well as a deep knowledge of design. The result is an underlying rigour paired with a sense of freedom and sometimes a touch of fun.
