Sacha Runa (n.): Forest Being. A study on Ecuadorian syncretism and the rituals of the Amazonian shamans for @harpersbazaarec Sacha Runa stands for “forest being” in Kichwa. This character from Ecuadorian folklore lives in the Ecuadorian Amazon. The Sacha Runa spirit protects the forest’s animals and serves as the intermediary between humans and plant spirits. Sacha Runa’s special relationship is with shamans. Only shamans can directly communicate with the Sacha Runa, who may or may not initiate the encounter. Seeking the Sacha Runa involves rituals and time. Cleansing rituals, including fasting and purging. While the shaman waits for Sacha Runa, no salt or domestic meat may be consumed, or it will not appear. The Sacha Runa appears when it feels the shaman is ready. The team. Lucho Dávila @iamtrece an Ecuadorian-Spanish photographer also known as IAMTRECE, is based between London and Paris, and has made a name for himself in the industry. He began his career as an assistant to renowned photographers Hunter & Gatti and later became an independent photographer in 2018 after being featured in The British Journal of Photography and PhotoVogue. Nylon Magazine describes Dávila's work as a "fusion that projects strength and a multifaceted vision." In his latest body of work, Fanesca, he explores his Latin American heritage by blending Spanish and Ecuadorian culture in syncretism within fashion. Through his powerful vision, Dávila analyzes society's traditions and imaginations, creating breathtaking images. Dávila's work has been featured in several prominent magazines such as Vogue, Vein, Nylon, Rolling Stone, Forbes, Metal Magazine, The Impression, Grazia, Icon, Neo2. He has been invited to Paris, London, and Madrid's fashion weeks, interviewed by European, Latin American, and Asian press, and trusted by several top brands like Off-White, Lasserre, Divuit, Terrachidia, Intbau, Fabrizio Célleri, Oxymoron Madrid, Prisa, Silma López for Netflix, and Eugenia Osborne to bring his unique vision to their projects. Dávila is now available for bookings worldwide and is based in London. He holds an MA degree in Fashion Photography from the London College of Fashion, University of the Arts London. Dávila is an Epidemic Sound Ambassador, a SkillShare Ambassador, and has a Partnership with Squarespace. In addition to his commercial work, he continues to develop his personal photography body of work and entrepreneurial projects such as Santo, Trece Studios, WhenWithYou fashion magazine, Analog Trips brand, and his YouTube channel iamtrece tv.
