Thank you @apakabar.pdx for letting my art grace this space.
Sitting down with friends on cozy floor pillows sipping tea and chatting over a game of Chinese checkers while listening to chill records in warm lighting is was such a perfect opening day. It was really special to see good friends drop by, and I’m glad for many it was their first time in this space.
I haven’t oil painted in several years, and this show gave me just the right amount of encouragement and inspiration I needed.
.
My work will be up there for the rest of the month, so if you have had a calling to slow down and have some cozy chill vibes enter your life, @apakabar.pdx awaits. 😌
Oh it’s been a while, and not having the desire or interest to make art for the past five or so months has made me feel really kinda lost. I finally had an after midnight desire to paint and I feel a spark. What helped was the painting on the left I started so long ago but I had it sitting on a stool in a forever ADHD place of it needing to be actually put away but it kept me looking at it and thinking about it in passing while I went about doing all the other things. And that helped me over time think about where this painting is going and how I felt about it. For being so lost, I think I’ve returned to basics for me so I stop overthinking about the result. Pthalo Turqoise will always be my favorite color to paint with
King is ready to find his castle and rule over his forever family with kisses and snuggles.
King is a deeply lovable frenchie/pittie mix with a big skooshy head and a heart to match. This 4 yr old, 40 lb dude is a certified cuddle monster, happiest when he’s pressed up against you like a warm, snoring gargoyle. His little piggy eyes, signature meatball waddle, and ridonkulous blep only adds to his charm; this guy is pure joy in a compact, wiggly package.
.
King came to us from Stockton shelter after being attacked by five large dogs, and was surrendered so the shelter could treat his wounds. He then came to us to ensure his life was saved and he could be in a comfortable foster home to fully heal. Despite this traumatic attack, King still gets along with the friendly calm dogs he meets and has a chill “go with the flow” demeanor. He loves making friends with people and is very sweet with kids. He’s the definition of an easy going companionship: sweet, social, and always ready for affection. He’s currently being fostered with 4 small dogs. His foster mom describes him as a big giant baby, and even will sit up on his butt reaching out for a hug and to fall backwards in your lab for cuddles.
.
While he’s got a gold star personality, his breed mix left him with some genetic health risks that his future family will need to keep an eye on, and be prepared to treat if they possibly worsen throughout his life, but at four years old he’s managed very well, isn’t in pain, and trots along in high spirits! King came to us with a heart murmur and his back leg was still healing from his attack. We took him to several specialists to assess his health. What they found were some congenital defects that at this time don’t require major intervention. When the cardiologist evaluated his heart murmur they found that he was born with a heart defect and is doing well on heart medication and in a year will need a recheck. We’re happy to share these medical records with interested adopters knowing that any dog with pre-existing medical conditions requires important consideration.

All of our feelings are distorted
Exaggerated to create menace
Curated in cursive, it’s theatre
A theatre of hysteria
Every scene gets louder and louder
We can’t look away and
no one applauds
But we nod and nod and nod
My connection to it
It became currency
From desperate empty pockets
I’m buying what your selling
Sell me your feelings
Sell me your revelations
I want your truth
I want your vulnerability
I want the ah hah
From every exhale you make
I am never satisfied
New fosters!
Y’all know I’m the puppy foster and I’m happy to officially introduce you all to Chromia and her 3 baby boys Optimus Prime, Megatron, and Starscream. Chromia came into a CA shelter very pregnant and immediately we said yes to taking her in. On her ride up on transport she couldn’t wait and had her puppies during Transport!
Everyone has been growing so much and getting strong and these little dudes are so active. Today they’re just 6 days old 🥹

I adore you Winnie!! Winnie is an amazing about 3 yrs old #cattledogmix that’s available for adoption with @urrescue in Portland, OR. This girl came to us from California, and has been in foster care for a little over a month and is just pure love, fun, and intelligence. I’ve been walking her everyday and she’s a breeeezeeee on leash, crate trained, and does well with cats and dogs. She sometimes can be a little shy, but I’ve fostered a lot of dogs and she connects with you looking for guidance, direction, and encouragement that is such a good quality to see in dogs. She is so goofy, and affectionate and will absolutely thrive in a family that loves to be active, is grounded, and has another dog that’s she can play with.
I’ve been so surprised this girl hasn’t gotten more interest, so please help me share her so we can find her forever home!

Ever since we rearranged the living room, ducky has noticed that things exist in the fish tanks and he’s particularly spooked by how the hillstream loach moves 😅 but I’ve been praising him for his curiosity, and giving him treats for watching. Maybe one day he’ll enjoy watching them as much I do!
@portlandgov@portlandgovmayor thanks for showing us that you do not value small businesses and the needs of your community. There’s too many examples actively showing us this right now and we’re all fed up, but this was an easy decision to make right and great job unanimously failing us.

I know Portlanders and surrounding Oregonians and others are not giving up, and we will continue to make our voices heard until action follows. Thank you @save_lloyd & @savelloydice and so many others that aren’t giving up. #savelloyd #portland #pdx #mall
i feel these days like i became extremely focused on prioritizing being as helpful and useful for everything else that I’ve lost my own vision a bit. I’ve been struggling to tend to my own time, everything feels like an objective to accomplish, even creating feels like a thing to execute, and the pressure to make something meaningful to the external world feels like it’s just another thing.
. Idk how @costarastrology gets it so right, but I’ve been starting to read it daily and connecting back to astrology has been grounding. i know I’ll find my way back to myself.
