These stills are long overdue, but I wanted to feature this special project as the first of the new year. Some of my favorite DP work of 2024, thank you to the amazing @otis_Zheng for trusting us with your wonderful song Mango Sticky Rice! So grateful to @dzakyurek for taking the reins of this complicated shoot and cultivating an aesthetic that only he can; from pre pro through color! 𝙁𝙎 𝙀𝙭𝙘𝙡𝙪𝙨𝙞𝙫𝙚 𝙋𝙧𝙚𝙢𝙞𝙚𝙧𝙚 / Haptic “Haptic” originally was a synonym for tactile in the medical field, and has since taken on the broader definition of the “science of touch.” By the early 20th century, it had developed a psychological sense, describing individuals whose perception supposedly depended primarily on touch rather than sight. I intended to portray thematically this idea of dependency on physical touch. A dependency which transcends age groups. Touch as a gateway to friendship, love, and grief. The purity of the images allows the viewer to maintain their own perspective without being influenced by narration. It was quite the weekend. Thank you to @the__asc for the student heritage award nom and the opportunity to meet so many amazing people whom I have looked up to for so long. Congratulations to my fellow nominees and to @iconicizzy for the win! Thank you to the king of niffty @dzakyurek for dreaming into existence @mychildfilm than not only got me nominated for this but also premiered at @screamfestla this weekend. Thank you to my wonderful professor @korbettmatthews who guided me through so much and to @emersoncollege for putting us all together. And to my parents who gave me a subscription to @american_cinematographer magazine for my 14th birthday. Who woulda thought.
