This work is a laser feedback system developed in 2024. A laser beam is modulated by sound and captured in real time, creating a closed loop of visual and acoustic response. The system responds immediately to changes in signal, producing a continuous flow of light and sound patterns that evolve through recursive feedback.
The beam emerges through the interaction between laser, mirrors, and sensors forming a space where unpredictability is integral and constantly shifting. The signals are generated from within, folding back into themselves and creating an ever-changing, self-sustaining environment. It carries the logic of post-industrial machines: systems that loop, respond, and persist beyond their original function, evoking a synesthetic condition where sound and light behave as one.
This research contributes to the development of laserography—a practice that uses laser based systems to draw and perform through in real-time on photo sensitive surfaces. The project explores the expressive capacity of sound-modulated light, bridging technical process with live composition. Developed as part of my MFA at Simon Fraser University, it culminated in the final performance 0x2e.
