ΟΨΕΙΣ ΤΩΝ ΚΥΚΛΑΔΩΝ 🌿 ΧΛΩΡΙΔΑ ΤΗΣ ΣΥΡΟΥ Η άνοιξη στις Κυκλάδες αποκαλύπτει ένα τοπίο αγνώριστο για τους επισκέπτες του καλοκαιριού, όπου η εποχική βλάστηση καλύπτει τα χωράφια, τα μονοπάτια και τις πέτρινες αναβαθμίδες των νησιών με έντονες πράσινες αποχρώσεις. Οι εικόνες αυτών των ειδών –μανδραγόρας, ασκέλλα και ροζ λαδανιά– προέρχονται από το Ανθεμίς, ένα ψηφιακό βοτανολόγιο που καταγράφει τη φυτική βιοποικιλότητα της Σύρου, εστιάζοντας σε τόπους όπου συναντιούνται οι ιστορίες των φυτών και των ανθρώπων. Περισσότερο από ένα βοτανικό αρχείο, το Ανθεμίς προσκαλεί σε συλλογική παρατήρηση και συμμετοχή, δημιουργώντας ένα οικολογικό αρχείο της Σύρου που συγκροτείται από τους ίδιους τους πολίτες, ενώ παράλληλα ανοίγει συζητήσεις για το πώς η τεχνολογία μπορεί να συμβάλει στην τεκμηρίωση των τοπικών περιβαλλόντων και στις εξελισσόμενες σχέσεις ανάμεσα στις ανθρώπινες και φυτικές κοινωνίες. These images of such species—mandrake, sea onion, and pink rockrose—are sourced from Anthemis, a digital herbarium documenting the plant biodiversity of Syros by focusing on places where the stories of plant and human life intersect. More than a botanical archive, Anthemis invites collective observation and participation, building a citizen-driven ecological record of Syros while opening conversations about how technology can support the documentation of local environments and the evolving relationships between human and plant societies. Mégots, mais pas comme vous les connaissez 🚬 Au travers de ces sculptures en forme de mégots, le collectif Hypercomf détourne un déchet du quotidien pour mieux alerter et questionner notre rapport à ces derniers. Situated on the island of Tinos, Greece, the project invites local residents to become active co-creators of material storytelling. « Voir la Mer », l’expo du @maifsocialclub ! On avait hâte de la découvrir. On prend conscience de cet écosystème à la fois si puissant et si fragile, à travers différentes œuvres (artistes ci dessous). L’exposition se visite librement et gratuitement sans inscription (il y a des visites tout-petits, familles, adultes, gustatives, contées, musicales, créoles: sur inscription gratuite) Bref: un lieu qu’on adore! Petit plus: en visite libre, vous pouvez emprunter une @luniimaginaire à l’accueil, avec une histoire spécifique pour cette expo! Elle permet de découvrir l’exposition à hauteur d’enfant, tout au long d’une histoire de 35mns. 𝗠𝗦𝗣𝗳𝗞𝗕 stands for Marine Sediment Paint from Koper Bay ● Known for its experimental approach to biomaterials, @hypercomf creates sustainable design prototypes inspired by nature. Their work blends art, science, and community engagement, exploring how marine ecosystems can inform new, eco-friendly materials. With the support of the Port of Koper and Marine Biology Station - NIB, they are testing ways to turn marine sediment into functional, biodegradable materials for architecture and public spaces. Their Sediment Lab project explores this challenge by finding innovative ways to reuse marine sediment extracted for port maintenance. The project takes inspiration from resilient local benthic ecosystems. ● I was asked to create 2 labels for Marine Sediment Paint. In addition to the illustration of the 2 labels, a typeface was also created for the MSPfKB. I used Optima Regular and Bold. The Optima Font Family was designed by Hermann Zapf and published by Linotype. ● But what is actually the MSPfKB? MSPfKB A natural and sustainable alternative to your standard wall paint. Marine sediment and casein based paint for your house and home. Based on the traditional "earthen paint" recipes used for thousands of years by different cultures around the world. It is easy to make, creates breathable surfaces that dont produce V.O.Cs. Dotted with bioclastic fragments of the organisms that dwell within the sediment. Marine sediment and casein based tiles for your house and home. Inspired by the mystical, seemingly empty landscape of the muddy benthos in the Koper Port area, dotted by the tiny biogenic structures of the sediment-dwelling organisms that hide within. The collected material was used in experiments to develop a biodegradable, sustainable biomaterial for human homes. The event focuses on the sustainability of the Earth’s soil and will include the screening of four video works created by visual artists Campus Novel, Catriona Gallagher, Maria Nikiforaki, and Hypercomf. The screening will be followed by an open discussion with the participating artists and invited professionals from the fields of culture, geoenvironmental science, and education. The artists conducted research in places where the soil tells the story of human intervention; areas that have already suffered or are under threat from pollution, loss of biodiversity, increased greenhouse gas emissions, and overdevelopment. As their works explore the degradation and possible restoration of the Earth’s soils, they seek to engage with these sites and the life they contain.
