When I would tell filmmaker @oliverousterhout that his concept for a music video for Simon by Sunday Artist was way too massive in scope for us to pull off, he would basically tell me to get my attitude out of his way, because he intended to carry through his vision to tell a tale of the Tech Industry brutalizing our fair city. And he pulled it off! The LA International Short Films Festival awarded the video a Bronze Laurel for their monthly competition which will now put it in consideration for their annual festival and screening. I am humbled by Olivers skills and commitment, and grateful for the help of @thoellis and many other crew members who donated their time. In a few weeks we will share the video on the World Wide Web.
A little over a month ago Sunday Artist finally released a debut album--Dolores-- with Hyperdévotion. It took a while, but am super stoked I finally got around to it in 2025! This album started as a side project to delve into some songwriting with influences I don't necessarily bring to @slownessmusic while having some fun working with musician friends in SF and NYC. I am so thankful to all the musicians who supported the vision of this album, especially to Chris Daddio for producing with me. Y'all are family. I am even more thankful that it has morphed into a real collaboration with Sean Eden, Indianna Hale and Jason Cirimele, because working on new music with them is dreamy. Hopefully we will release some of it in...2026. Happy New Year! Here's a few pictures of some of the people who worked on the album. @_seaneden_@indychil@dustcollectormusic@hyper.devotion@donuttimeaudio@everyoneisdirty@wicked.winds@beyondnotes@drummy66@tspanishyar@kakejopulsky@ruminatorsf

I think my cat Dom Peps was as excited as I was that the Sunday Artist records arrived! Dolores will make its way on to the shelves of a few record stores, but head to bandcamp if you want one sent your way. Link in bio. This song ‘Bombing Hills’ has @dustcollectormusic , @indychil , and @_seaneden_ on guitars, me on keys and bass, @kakejopulsky on drums and a bunch of of singing! #debutalbum #dreampop #experimentalpych #postpunk #spagettiwestern #sanfranciscomusic
Thrilled to share this video of Watermelon, the third song on Sunday Artists soon to be released debut album DOLORES. The film is made by one of my oldest SF Bay Area music collaborators, the venerable Ryan Lescure. Indianna Hale and Jason Cirimele on guitars, Jake Kopulsky on drums, me (Jules) on bass, keys and vox, Indianna singing right along with me, and Chris Daddio recording and mixing it all together like a boss. So thankful for these friends. You can listen to us play Watermelon at our record release party next Saturday, Nov 22 @littlehilllounge and pick one up there or pre-order one on Bandcamp (link in bio). #debutalbum #dreampop #postpunk #psychedelicmusic @indychil@dustcollectormusic@_seaneden_@donuttimeaudio@kakejopulsky@extremayya
