It was great to attend my first @caadriaorg conference in my hometown of Hsinchu, at YMCT University, where my father taught for 30+ years, at the university campus where I grew up as a kid. Feels somehow full circle.

Kaohsiung Weiwuying Performance Arts Center. Mecanoo, 2021. Magic Carpet scheme with deep cantilevers, providing large shaded spaces while hiding the volume of four performance halls. Interiors are much higher quality than the exterior welded steel plate quads and epoxy floors.

2nd-year students were tasked with designing and fabricating multi-material constructs integrating laser cutting, CNC, 3D printing, welding, robotic wire cutting, and casting methodologies.
Learning about materiality, tolerances, fabrication methods, CNC toolpath programming, robotic control, and coordinating group work in the same semester is a challenging but rewarding endeavor. Very proud of the students' hard work and cool designs!
