Never underestimate the humble reception photo. Clients often decide whether to front load their wedding day with photography (getting ready) or keep the media team around for longer during dancing. I definitely think that there is a sweet spot for reception images. On the one hand, you absolutely want photos of the dress change, the raging dance floor, and a few of those blackmail photos of your favorite people. But on the other, you want to take into account guest experience. Not EVERYTHING needs to be photographed, and at an event like a wedding when almost every moment is, giving your guests a bit of a reprieve can end the evening on the perfect, private note. As much as I would love to be on the dance floor for hours with you and your guests, they will appreciate it much more if it isn’t constantly filled with flash the entire time. I travelled to LA to hunt down tapestry fabrics from around the world for my sweetheart table and seating chart, collected antique silver, and had a clear vision of what I wanted the day to look like. While this sounds glamorous, we wanted the guest experience to feel effortless and easy yet still elevated; yummy food, good vibes, and the drinks pouring from start to finish. I knew I wanted a romantic take on fall colours, including mauves, tawny brown, burgundy and pops of green. It was dreamy and fun.” “A beautiful wedding is great, but a beautiful marriage is what life is all about. try not to get wrapped up in all the details, it is so fun to curate a vision, but remember it’s meant to be fun and you are celebrating your love!
