Why be inside when the whole neighborhood is a gallery? 🤔 🎨 A sunny day in the Ward makes us want to get out and admire the many murals in our corner of Milwaukee ☀️ Plus, a new mural is coming to the Commission House on the corner of St. Paul and Broadway! Milwaukee artist @johnkowalczyk has been commissioned (pun intended 😉) to create a large-form piece on the northern side of the building facing I-794 🖌️ (Click the link in our bio to learn more!) Milwaukee ... we're shooting for the moon! 🚀 🌕 This summer we're celebrating 50 years of the Historic Third Ward Association (HTWA) during three days of non-stop family-friendly fun in Catalano Square. From Friday, Aug. 7, to Sunday, Aug. 9, a replica of the Earth's moon will be the center of our neighborhood oasis with myriad activations throughout the weekend ✨ Mark your calendar and get excited for: 🌙 A 23-foot illuminated sculpture, Museum of the Moon, created by UK artist @lukejerramartist that has captivated more than 30 million people worldwide. Created using high-resolution NASA imagery and paired with a surrounding sound experience, this installation brings a detailed and immersive representation of the moon into the heart of the neighborhood 🎶 Live music, interactive art, dance, fashion, wellness experiences, and family-friendly activities 🍺 Extended hours of the @thirdwardbeergarden , they'll be open late throughout the festival! 🚶 A walkable, immersive environment that extends into Menomonee Street and Broadway 🎉 Themed days including an opening celebration on Friday; Saturday will highlight the neighborhood’s cultural roots; and Sunday will center on wellness and community This marks the second time Museum of the Moon has been installed in Catalano Square, first appearing in 2019 through a collaboration between Black Box Fund (now @joyengine ) and the Historic Third Ward Association. Its return represents a full-circle moment for the neighborhood and reflects an ongoing commitment to immersive public art 🎨 The festival is free and open to the public, encouraging visitors to explore the Third Ward’s galleries, boutiques, and restaurants while experiencing a dynamic mix of programming across all three days!
