Fresh off the press from @Public.News.Service , Latino leaders in California are calling for what they describe as ābold changes to the way the state treats Latinos, who make up 40% of the population,ā as part of a new statewide policy vision.
Hispanic Federation, in collaboration with @CHIRLA_org , @LCHC_ca , @hopelatinas , and Unseen developed the āHealth, Wealth and Dignity Agenda for Californiaā which outlines priorities centered on housing access, workforce development, healthcare, family support systems, and strengthening pathways to opportunity for Latino communities across the state.
A year after the Digital Equity Act was canceled, communities across the country are still paying the price. Yesterday, Hispanic Federation joined national partners and lawmakers to demand action and call on Congress to restore the bipartisan Digital Equity Act, because access to internet, digital skills, and technology should not depend on your ZIP code, age, or income!
As @frankie_miranda , President and CEO of Hispanic Federation, shared: āIn order for our nation to fully embrace the technologies of tomorrow, we must first close the digital divide that leaves far too many people unable to participate in a digital society where access to health care, education, employment and essential services require digital skills.ā
Thank you @http_policy , @Public_Knowledge , @netinclusion , @naturbanleague , @repGraceMeng , @repmenendez , and @SenatorLujan for working with us to convene this space and to the many speakers for taking the time to share why it is so important to restore the Digital Equity Act.
California State Director German Cash joined @hopelatinas for its 32nd Annual Latina Action Day in Sacramento to share a powerful reflection about his experience as the son of immigrants whose mom worked diligently to build and care for him as he grew up. His message was grounded in his lived experience and a deep commitment to equity, dignity, and opportunity for all. These themes, and many more, were elevated in the 2026 Health, Wealth, and Dignity Agenda, which was developed to provide a roadmap for policies that elected officials should prioritize in order to address the Latino voter concerns in California.
Hispanic Federation partners with more than 55 community-based organizations across California to advance an agenda rooted in protecting our communities, expanding access to critical resources, and ensuring Latino voices are heard and represented where decisions are made.
This is what collective power looks like, community-led, community-driven, and focused on building a more just future for all.

Last Monday, we celebrated the graduation of our inaugural Swift App Development program. š
Over 8 weeks, 17 aspiring software engineers gained hands-on experience with Swift, the coding language behind Apple apps.
This new program, in partnership with @AmericaOnTech and @CunyintheHeights , is building pathways into tech for New Yorkers. This was the first of three cohorts this year, with the next one launching soon.
Puerto Rico deserves transparency. Thank you to the 46 members of Congress fighting alongside our families to investigate the DOEās handling of the Energy Resilience Fund.
In a letter to DOE Secretary Wright, the members demanded the DOE explain why it canceled the PR-ERF solar and battery projects designed to provide energy resilience for rural health clinics and very low-income families in Puerto Rico, particularly those with disabilities.
āDOEās lack of transparency, wasteful reuse of the funding, disregard for congressional intent, and potentially illegal cancellation of contractsācombined with the resulting increase in energy poverty and loss of energy securityāraise serious questions about the Departmentās uses of the Puerto Rico-Energy Resilience Fund,ā the lawmakers said in their letter to DOE Secretary Wright.
The lawmakers demanded a congressional briefing and warned DOE is quietly steering funding from the PR-ERF toward a new methane gas pipeline, and other private fossil fuel interests.
YOU CAN HELP: Use the links in our bio to read the full letter to DOE and then send your own letter to DOE Secretary Wright demanding he restore the original PR-ERF awards.

This proposed budget marks real progress, laying the groundwork for meaningful change by:
- Expanding access to universal childcare
- Lowering auto insurance costs

At š§” #HFGala2026 we met the moment and you helped make that happen. Hispanic Federationās Annual Gala on April 23 brought together leaders, advocates, and partners, but the heart of the night belonged to the families, students, and communities driving this movement forward. On the red carpet you saw inspiring changemakers, community champions, and people doing the real work every single day. Then on the stage you heard from @lin_manuel , @esai_morales , @chefjoseandres , @nycmayor , @frankie_miranda , and many other speakers who understand how important it is that we continue to advocate for and support our community.
We celebrated. We recommitted. We MET this moment together, and we carry it with us.
The red carpet folds up. The work doesn't. š§”
