One sentence I say constantly when asked about our program is: “We have A-LOT of coaches who are mothers themselves.” @hilldini @styling.sunshine @jessycaclendenin And honestly, I think these women deserve to be bragged about the way some people brag about sourdough starters or marathon times. Constantly. Aggressively. To strangers, even. And, as mothers a huge part of our team’s culture is asking: how do we make this FUN for the kids & easier for parents? Should we contract a hairdresser & do haircuts at the skatepark once a month so nobody has to spend two hours in the Supercuts waiting area EVER AGaIN?!?! Should we serve coffee every Monday morning during camp so parents can connect before the weekly chaos fully takes hold? What if we do a kid’s clothing swap? Should we do a mother-kid skate clinic? Mostly because watching moms attempt a drop -in might heal something in all of us. We are always brainstorming ways to make our programs not only great for the kids, but lighter for the parents carrying 97% of the family calendar in their heads at all times. So many reasons I love our team. So many reasons to celebrate our Skate Coastal Coach moms. Happy Mother’s Day to the mothers & caregivers who coach, lead, organize, encourage, comfort, carpool, and somehow still remember where everyone’s water bottle is…. ❤️

Huge News! 🌟 @skatebeast_shop has generously donated SO MANY pairs of skates to our Skate Coastal Programs, and I am just... speechless. The kindness of the skate community, stepping in to support kids in such a meaningful way, is something I can hardly put into words. It’s this kind of generosity that shows just how deeply people care about bringing joy and opportunities to the next generation. And speaking of generosity, I have to share a special shoutout to our lead inline coach, @hilldini . She arranged the entire @skatebeast_shop donation on her own time—no fanfare, didn’t even tell me beforehand, no big announcement. She did it because she sees the bigger picture, loves our students, and like all of our coaches, she’s invested in making sure our kids have every chance to succeed. I can’t even begin to express how much that means to me, and to everyone involved. But it’s not just about donations. It’s about the quiet, everyday acts of care that make our community so special. I watch all of our coaches stay after hours to help a student finally land a trick or reach a new milestone, throw them an “end of the summer bash” (on their time off), help create new partnership opportunities, etc. They talk about these kids like they’re family—sharing stories about a breakthrough moment or a breakthrough smile. They aren’t just teaching skating; they’re creating connections, building trust, and helping these kids feel seen. As a small business owner, I can’t tell you how lucky I feel to be surrounded by a team so deeply invested in the mission of Skate Coastal. It’s more than a program; it’s a shared labor of love. Every little effort—adds up to something beautiful, something that goes far beyond just skating. So here’s to the skate community. To @skatebeast_shop for their incredible donation. And to all of our coaches, who go above and beyond every single day to make Skate Coastal a place where every student can thrive. I’m so grateful for all of you ❤️
